The story behind the citadel and where it's placed are the major attraction. It's not the best however worth visiting

“A nice day at the Ottoman Heritage”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Its located in a citadel where u can see amazing view of old Cairo. At the citadel there are numerous museums which are almost free:) and the souvenirs are very cheap, but try to bargain:) and what ı most like was the photo kiosk that u can wear any costume of any historical charecter:) ı like the costumes very much, but didnt like teh quality of the photos,so try to reduce the price, coz its a bit over priced:)

“beautiful”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

simply beautiful, unique, soothing and so peaceful... the spirituality and peace is lovely... the mosque is another sight to behold... majestic... grand domes stand tall and high. We loved the ambience and being a woman... it was first time for me inside a mosque... a warm feeling to remember.

“It's the best City Attraction in Cairo”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

As the pyramids are in Giza :), I can state this was the best attraction of our stay in Cairo. The mosque is huge, amazingly situated on the hills of Cairo. The place needs a bit of renovation, but actually the current state adds a bit history to the place. It's actually worth reading a bit about some of the amazing stories related to the place to understand the importance to the local citizens but also the Muslims. A must visit stop when in Cairo.
