The site is dominated by the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, which goes back to 2700 BC. It is one of the oldest stone structures in the world!
only by this is worthing the visit
Sakkara is also the site of many tombs from the 1st and 2nd Dynasties. Most are made out of mud bricks, but some tombs are made of limestone, decorated with daily life scenes.which are just fantastic , You should stay with the many Egyptians whose trying to sell You something is like everywhere in the world and not complain

Sakkara and the Step Pyramid site seemed more real to me... it's still actively being explored with new discoveries each year. You can go into several tombs easily. It's not as 'touristy' as say the Giza pyramids... quiter and still... very cool.

These were interesting but the surroundings lack in maintenance when compared to sites down the Nile

These ancient sites left me absolutely speechless. The ingenuity and dedication of the ancient Egyptian people are astounding.
