“a great place in the middle of the capital”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

you can easily find different places you can stay and dine in, also the view is the best thing you can enjoy there... try to get your camera and spend some hours, but not in the weekends or the official holidays, because it will get crowded like hell.

“lake side Cafe”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Mix Gril is great there, salads choice & test is great , view over historical Cairo & specially the Citadel Mosque
if hot - go to indoor A/C hall , if weather is good - open air is wonderful
rates are ok, just avoid to go on weekends & public holiday as it is so crowded - so it takes ages to go into the Park or to leave the Park
Service is not very fast , & Sea food is not good all the time like the mix grill or just grilled chikchen - bathroom is not very clean they have to take care of that - also the Kitchen Cleanliness

“Beautiful, Green, Peaceful !!”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We went to al-Azhar on the very first day in Cairo. It was a saturday so the park was full of locals picnicking. There were school trips and teenagers hanging out.

It is a great place to go for a stroll and people watching. There are 2 viewpoint up the hill that has a great view of the Cairo city. Including the Citadel view towering over Cairo city. The place was full of people but still very serene and peaceful.

It was a nice afternoon out for us. We strolled around and ate at one of the Restaurants. Definitely make it to both view points, that way you almost cover the entire Park in between.

“Cairo's Green Lung”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

The park is very well planned and maintained. It's a lovely spot to go to in the morning for peace, quite and serenity. There are also plenty of good picnic spots as well as cafe's and restaurants with breathtaking views. Entrance fee is about EGP 7.

It gets much more crowded as the day progresses and especially on weekend afternoons, as many locals go there for picnics with their families and friends.

Al-Azhar park is affordable, yet stunning. A hidden gem, it has a brilliant view of the Citadel from the little hilltop. With restaurants and playgrounds for the little ones, you can lounge here all day :)
