Much less crowded than Giza and well worth taking the time to travel a short distance out of Cairo. From my point of view best area to explore pyramids.

This was the last pyramid at the end of a very long day but I am so glad we did it! You climb up a set of steps going along the front of the pyramid then make your way down about 60 m into the Pyramid. It was a such a good experience, I am still aching though!

The Step Pyramid, Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid are so ancient! I also visited a must-see museum and tomb in this area. Awesome!

The Bent and Red pyramids at this site were magnificent. The desert - amazing. Unlike Giza and Saqqara, there were no crowds or tour buses. You could actually go inside the Red pyramid, not an easy thing to do given that the hall was small and steep, requiring you to walk bent kneed and hunkered over. This was my favorite stop!.

Two great pyramids - the Red and the Bent set in the desert so you get the true image of what it must have been like rather than the famous ones at Giza where you get loads of hassle and a view of fast food outlets as well! You can enter the Red Pyramid too. Don't miss it.
