I like it that you can get a budget place so close to the center. Malls and museums are nearby and the street is quiet. I felt very safe at the Longchamps and the staff was overall helpful and friendly. I didn't have much time to visit Cairo but I'm sure I will do that when I come back, hopefully soon, and I will definitely stay at the Hotel Longchamps again.

Hotel Longchamps, on the island of Zamelek, central Cairo, provides great value, serenity and charm within the general chaos and excitement of Cairo. Rooms are well appointed, spacious and charming. Staff are attentive and helpful. All this is supported by a lovely breakfast as well.

We managed to book at quite short notice, mainly because the owner had just had some cancellations. Otherwise, trying to book 6 weeks in advance we wouldn't have got in.
Previous reviewers commented on the poor general area outside and dilapidated lifts. It's certainly not the Ritz, and yet this is Cairo and Longchamps is great value for money. The lift must be about 100 years old, and is charming rather than a problem. And then on arriving at the fifth floor, it's all smiles and welcome. The staff were great.
The hotel is up and down, round corners, and yet the rooms we stayed in were great, much more comfortable and well-appointed than we had expected. The breakfast is OK rather than wonderful. Free fast internet access. Lots of quiet spaces to sit and relax from the hub-hub outside. Very good value for money.
We were charmed by it all, and will use it as our base again if and when we go back to Cairo.

Hotel quite calm with good service, rooms are spacious, very clean and confortable. Brillant breakfast, you see they pay extra attention to their guests. Personnel is friendly, helpful and efficient. It was a bit of relief in the chaotic Cairo.

I d really recommend, and would come back here when I return to visit upper Egypt.

Don't let the facade, foyer or antiquated lifts put you off this great little hotel. Hotel Longchamps is five floors up in a very unappealing building, but on the lovely quiet and leafy island location of Zamalek. The hotel is really quirky with lots of different seating areas and lovely balconies. Rooms are really clean and have all the facilities e.g. good air-con, fridge, safe, writing desk, modern bathrooms, good lighting and if you are in the executive or superior rooms a lovely balcony.

The location is really handy to everything and you can walk over the October 6 bridge to the museum. There are lots of good restaurants, cafes and shops within walking distance.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem.

The restaurant does a lovely breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs and assorted breads. The restaurant has nice decor and is very clean. They were always happy to cook more hot food if we asked.

We were a group of 10 who stayed here for 4 nights and found it suited all ages and styles.

What can I say. We came to stay at this hotel because of the reviews on Trip advisor. Needless to say be thought at we were let off at the hotel " where are we?'. As from the outside you would think it is an abandoned building. But please, do not let this put you off. This is Cairo Egypt. Inside it is different. The staff are beyond wonderful, one of the friendliest we have found. The breakfast buffet, whist not extensive is more edible than the 5 star hotels we have stayed at within Egypt even though that may sound unbelievable. The rooms are clean and the mattress in good condition again better than another 5 star hotel in Aswan we are currently staying at. So what are my thoughts? It's not 5 star the entrance is not 5 star but for friendliness, efficiency in service and breakfast I give it 5 star. For fittings, fixtures, foyer.... it is what it is, an Egyptian 3 star. Nice touch - the complimentary tube of hand sanitiser. Not a hotel for everyone but for the people who like to experience something a little different that is very affordable I strongly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at this hotel after 10 days in Sharm el sheikh, the room was comfortable enough and the location pretty good (Zamalek is a nice area and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby)

Only complaints I had were the very poor breakfast which consisted of toast, cereals, cold pancakes and yoghurts and our room had a very temperamental shower so the temperature would continually change from really hot to stone cold.

Otherwise you can do alot worse than the hotel longchamps, the staff were always very friendly and helpful and the location is pretty good, Egyptian museum is about a 20min walk from the hotel.

Was a bit disappointed to arrive and see firsthand the hotel lift, after hearing so much whining on here I was expecting little more than a platform and a rope but alas it was a perfectly functioning lift which always felt safe.
