King Hotel
Ranked #74 of 139 Hotels in Cairo

We stayed at King Hotel as part of a tour group. This hotel does get a lot of traffic from tour groups however contrary to what you might think, it's very quiet. The hotel seems to be progressively renovating rooms, as we stayed in this hotel on 3 separate occasions we found some rooms finished and some not. Generally though, the quality of the rooms is quite good. The beds are comfortable enough and the linens and towels always clean. The un-renovated bathrooms are basic but we did have a soap dispenser and the water was always reliably hot.

Staff were particularly helpful given our entire group returned to the hotel unexpectedly when our train to Aswan was cancelled. Food is quite food and very reasonably priced and there is a great rooftop bar with nice views over the city and out to the pyramids on a clear day. The neighborhood is quiet making sleep easy and there's a supermarket around the corner.

Very happy with our stay at King Hotel.

I stayed here as part of a tour both before and on return to Cairo. It is about an hour from the airport (100£) in a safe location away from downtown. A supermarket is around the corner and many nice places to eat are all within walking distance. Metro is also close by. Rooms are sufficient but hotel can be noisy at night. Showers had hot water but holder supporting shower head in both rooms i stayed was broken and you had to hold the whole time making it a pain (although this was common in most hotel throughout Egypt!). Rooftop bar is really nice place to relax with great view. Free wifi in the lobby/ restaurant is pretty strong and unlimited. Food is average but ok if cant be bothered going out, breakfast is repetitive but ok. Some of the staff are great and attentive - the doormen and servers in lobby restaurant. Other staff are pushy or cant be bothered - breakfast servers, front desk clerks. I would be careful buying anything from the inhouse 'shop' as they will try to rip you off. Also as this hotel is used by tour groups, be weary of people in the surrounding streets saying they are linked with companies - they are not and try to rip you off. Overall due to safe convenient location i would recommend and stay here again.

It has a great location, a safe distance from the protests and Tahrir Square as well as close to a bunch of cheap local delicious restaurants! There is also a nice cafe on the roof with a pretty view of the city and shisha and drinks. However, I would not trust them will all their information, they will try to sell you as many expensive packages as possible. They lied to us saying that things were closed when they weren't. That being said it was a dangerous time, however I would have appreciated correct information. Also the ride from the airport is included but return is not. Other than that the rooms were nice and clean and the people were friendly. We felt safe leaving our stuff with them when we went to tour around on the last day.

They were doing a lot of work when i stayed in March 2013 they were removating rooms and the lobby. The AC didnt work so we had to open the window in the hope for some cool air but that made it even more noisier thoughout the night. The location of the hotel makes up for how noisy it can be, Its about 20 pound to most tourist destinations although i suggest grabbing a card with the address because its not on a main road so not all cab drivers new where it was.

Overall its a pretty good hotel it has free wifi, it serves cheap beer and has a roof top bar although i didnt see it open while i was there.

In general it is a 2 star standard hotel

Room Tip: Ask for the newly renovated rooms

Very good location. It's located in very quite place and 10 mins from Metro. Price is not bad, and it's clean in overall. Free wifi is available in the lobby floor. Staffs is friendly.

There is no particular things. If you want to stay with good location, not bad price, and basic quality, it could be good choice.

Don't expect for nice breakfast. ;)

At this hotel, the staff was cleaning up bottles all through the night! I am not sure if it was the bar or housekeeping but it was awful! We could not sleep The A/C did not work so we could not use the fan to block noise either. Otherwise, it was actually quite clean and the size of the room was nice plus we had a decent bathroom (though another traveler did not have hot water at first, we did). Staff are very friendly, but no sleep (which is kinda important) so really can not recommend even though price was great. I thought the breakfast was quite decent and reasonable. Buffet with a local feeling (which is what we wanted): falafel, pita bread, etc -- and a guy offering omelettes, too.

Room Tip: I think 7th (upper) floor must have been near the bar--and we heard bottles being cleaned and droppe...

I stayed at King Hotel for the second time last January. My first stay there was in January 2011. The hotel continues to be good, the staff and service continue to be same. The best thing about this hotel is its location from which one can have anything he may need and can go anywhere. The area of the hotel is quiet and away from the riots and demonstrations in other areas of Cairo. Some pieces of the furniture needs to be changed and rennovated.
