“Do not miss the trip by giving stepmotherly treatment to the Step pyramid”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

It is a little out of the way.. around 20 km from the sphinx and the Giza pyramids. However, it is well worth the trip. There are very few tourists there so you can take your time admiring the different style of the pyramid and the surrounding structures.

“Stunning”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Driving to Saqqara was quite an eyeful after a tour in Memphis. We drove through an amazing palm trees forest which suddenly changed into a desert. When you enter, you go through this alleyway of columns which is really fascinating before seeing the pyramid on the right hand side. The step pyramid looked like had scaffolding on one side but still amazing to see. There are smaller pyramids around the main step pyramid which allows people to go through a small tunnel but you have to mind your head and it is not good for people with back problems. The person who takes you to the tunnel may sneakingly ask to take pictures of you inside this place but don't give him your camera otherwise he will want his baksheesh. Right opposite the tunnel is a museum that you can look inside but you can't take any photos inside

“Wonderful experience”

A unique opportunity to visit ancient tombs with almost nobody else there, and see exquisite bas-reliefs right in front of you. A must-see in Cairo, different altogether from the Pyramids, much more intimate & peaceful

“Shte Stepped pyramids are worth seeing”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

A day trip to Saqqara is worthwhile. Most folks aren't even aware of the Saqqara stepped pyramids and there is some great histroy to take in if you go.

Well worth doing and very interesting. The High priest tomb next door can be visited - with superb wall carvings.
