you have a great chance to experience the early building styles of pyramids and the interior. might not be as impressive as the Keops but definately worth the visit.- and hassle deffo a lot less here.

Obviously this site is incredible.
They have 'restored' some of the pyramid and surrounding temples. It kind of killed it for me. They're actually cutting the original stone to fit into the 'restoration.' It'd be similar to resorting the Sistine Chapel and adding a clown in the background of one of the paintings. I realize they're doing the restoration to prevent a collapse but I'd prefer to see the original work untouched.
That being said, the drive out to the site from Giza is amazing. Coming from America, the amount of poverty witnessed along the road to the site is breathtaking. Not that poverty should be on your list for site seeing. It does give you an idea of what Egyptians have to deal with- even after a revolution.

Preferred this to the Giza pyramids. It is an open air museum adb is very beautiful. We went on a winter's afternoon and it was not crowded so we could wander around enjoying the peace of the desert

The trick to this area is to find a good guide. I would recommend finding one before you get to Egypt. It does not take long to visit. Don't miss the tomb of TiTi. At the present time the Pyramid is covered on one side by wooden scaffolding.

Saqqara is a vast Ancient Egyptian necropolis in Giza Governorate of , about 18 km to the south of Giza City. The uniqueness of the site rests on its being the only necropolis in Egypt that includes tombs from the dawn of the Egyptian History till its end. Additionally, it includes some monuments of the Greco-Roman Period. It was named after the god of the necropolis, Sokar.
