“The tower”

The Cairo tower is quite rightly a landmark in Cairo. It's huge, impressive and when i last went...closed for renovations. Another time.

“Nice view from Cairo”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

The only problem is this tower is opened only on the morning.
It could be nice to visit during the evening.
If you are lucky, you could be able to see Giza pyramids.

“A 360 of Cairo”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

When in Cairo, the highest we might goes is to the tenth floor of a friend’s flat. Cairo is not a city of towers sprouting up everywhere, it is a city of high density “un-permitted” buildings, so we are never in position to look out over the city and really take in its magnitude.
For 70 L.E., ( $11), you can take the elevator to the top of the Cairo Tower, where there are two restaurants and the top deck look out. From the lookout deck, you are in a better position to see what a city containing nineteen million people looks like. The now famous, but sadly dilapidated, Tahrir square can be seen from the east side, you can just make out the pyramids of Giza off in the haze to the west, right below is the Opera house, and a few private sporting club complexes.
Being lifted above the chaos for a few minutes is good for recharging before your next destination! We can escape the thick masses of cars but the sounds of a thousand and one horns still fills the air like the wind itself. The down side of this exhilarating experience: if you thought the pollution was bad on the ground level, wait till you get to the top so you can see the density of the smog that fills the city and comes spewing off the roads!
When you have had enough of the deck, pop down to the first restaurant. Where there is no minimum price, so you can have a quick coffee or lemon juice. A quick sandwich can also be obtained. The second restaurant has a minimum price of 120L.E., and it revolves giving a 360 degree panorama! I once had great steak with peppercorn sauce there, and for an extra 10 L.E., a man dressed in Pharonic garb will print your name and astrological sign in English and Hieroglyphics on a sheet of papyrus!
Tip: The Cairo Opera House has a full year round schedule of opera, symphony, and local popular and classical music concerts, all of which begin at 8PM. Think about combining dinner at the Cairo Tower with “ a night at the opera”!

“Amazing views”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

A must for all tourists. Also have a drink in the reastaurant! It's simply a tower with a revolving reastaurant at the top, but the views are incredible.
