It is difficult to write this review as the apartment's owner Walid is very helpful and personable. However, after much thought, I believe it is only fair on other possible renters that I give my candid views.
Al Rehab, where the apartment is located, is approximately 20 minutes drive from the airport depending on traffic. Al Rehab is a giant private estate that is fenced has over 20 odd entrances that are manned by security staff. It consists of houses, townhouses and apartments with parks, sporting facilities, big swimming pool, shopping centre, cinemas, restaurants and the Al Rehab Souk that has numerous shops of every description from upmarket to basic. There are about 45,000 people living here.
The closest entrance to the apartment is Gate 9, near the souk, but it is not numbered in English and maybe not Arabic too. Taxi drivers, on the whole, don't know the gates' locations and if you don't know where to go, and the gate's number, then you can imagine the problem.
The apartment is well located five minutes walk from a shopping centre with a supermarket, food shops, close shops and mobile phone outlet etc. The Souk is another five minutes walk from the shopping centre.
The apartment is in a block on the ground floor and is spacious with air conditioning in the living room and the main bedroom, but not in the second bedroom. People living in Al Rehab are mostly Egyptian and very friendly who are always willing to give you assistance and directions etc.
Walid the apartment's owner was helpful, but preoccupied with a sick member of his family.
Wi-Fi was very good.
If you are wishing to visit the numerous sites in central Cairo and Giza you can easily spend 2-3 hours travelling in a taxi to and from where you wish to go. While the taxis are not that expensive the traffic is chaotic and dangerous. You can be caught in a traffic jam that may last up to an hour with the taxi going nowhere. As such, I would not recommend the location of the apartment for tourists wishing easy access to the main tourist attractions of Cairo.
While the apartment was spacious and the furniture of a reasonable standard, it certainly well worn and in the need of a renovation including painting, fixing up of the cupboards in both bedrooms and fixing the light fittings in every room.
The apartment was superficially cleaned for my arrival, but there was dust and dirt in every corner and a small balcony off the second bedroom, where the clothesline was, look like it hadn't been cleaned for months.
The kitchen, particularly the wall behind the oven/cook tops, under the sink, under the cupboards and around the refrigerator were not clean and there was numerous small medium cockroaches lurking everywhere. The refrigerator was not particularly clean as well.
The pots and pans were not particularly well cleaned and one frying pan didn't have a handle on the other was completely buckled. The nose is false and other utensils were housed in two dirty drawers and utensils were next a hopeless.
There was no proper lighter for the gas cook tops and they were very dangerous to light with a cigarette lighter that was provided.
The bathroom wasn't properly cleaned, particularly behind the toilet, and there were big cockroaches coming up through the un-grated shower drain. The basin was also not properly cleaned.
The washing machine, which was located in the bathroom, had no instructions and the hose used to feed in the water was broken and had to be held by hand.
Most of the light fittings were not fixed properly and were at an angle etc
If you don't mind being far away from central Cairo and Giza, Al Rehab is a good area to stay being close to airport, very safe and plenty of things to do and numerous shops to visit.
The apartment has the potential to be good/excellent, but is in need of a very big makeover in all facets I mentioned above.
The cleaning has to do be done in a proper fashion and closely monitored by Walid the owner.
If you above is done I would recommended it to people who are happy to stay in this location.
PS I have photos if needed.

I'd like to thank you for you hospitality during our stay in your apartment. This was my first time in this part of Cairo and the location is ideal: close to the airport, with lots of places to eat and a supermarket a few minutes walk from the apartment. The apartment is very comfortable, well maintained and we look forward to staying there again.
