Description: Here at Zooba, we turn familiar Egyptian street food on its head (and dress it up a little, too). We use only the freshest local produce to create simple, flavorful, gourmet dishes. We don't just use locally-sourced products in our food; we also reclaim local materials and found objects to create an eclectic dining space that pays homage to the creative resourcefulness and colorful spirit of the Egyptian people.

“Amazing restaurant. Definitely one of a kind!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

Zooba is a restaurant that offers both: authentic local cuisine in a sanitary condition!
It's just a must-go-to if you want to try Egyptian food. It's unique. It's beautiful. The environment aesthetically reflects the character of the place. It's just dipped in culture.
I would passionately recommend it to anybody visiting Cairo. It's just as good a presentation of Egyptian culture as the pyramids or old Cairo!

“Upscale local”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Set in trendy Zamalek, Zooba offers an upscale menu of local foods in a mellow atmosphere. Many typical Egyptian street foods get a creative twist at Zooba, including nice juice fusions (e.g. hibiscus and lemon), great fuul/sausage sandwiches, hummus in several flavors, rice pudding with pumpkin and cinnamon, etc. A favorite of young expats and socialites. Many dishes come pre-packaged, too, so you can easily take it away.

“unconventional place to try Egyptian street food”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Zooba is a great place to try Egyptian street food ... everything on the menu is delicious from the foul and taamia to the olive labna and koshari, ... everything! the place is small, cozy, and traditionally decorated. i always enjoy the music selection they play. i love the food, the unconventional drinks, the traditional Egyptian sweets and most of all the friendly staff who greet you at the door, would like you to stay longer, and warmly wish to see you again on your way out ... i simply love the place, it's one of my favorite spots in Zamalek, and the food is guaranteed to satisfy you

“Great way to try Egyptian street food”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

A trendy setting, with great explanations of different 'street food' for those who are new to Egyptian food. The Taamiya/Falafel were very good, the dips actually come in a jar which are big servings so don't go overboard when ordering.

I know it's considered expensive by 'local standards' but a dinner for two with juices costs us about 120LE (£12) so great value by tourist standards. Would recommend sitting inside, there is only one communal table that seats about 12 - 16 ppl max so would recommend booking.

“Excellent and Safe Egyptian Street Food”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

As a foreigner living in Cairo, I love Zooba. It has a great variety of street food served in a clean safe environment. You can get most of these dishes for much less at other street vendors, but you are taking a big chance. At Zooba, you get good quality, friendly service, a funky atmosphere and well made food. I particularly recommend the hawawshi sandwich and the strawberry basil juice.
