Some beautiful and historical pieces on display, including the building. A place to spend the day, not an hour!

Unlike the Egyptian Museum, this collection is very well labeled, comprehensive, has educational information and is incredibly fascinating. A beautiful collection.

At first glance, Islamic art is all the same. However, the amount of detail in the work is amazing. Seeing a huge copy of the Kuran (Quran, however you want to spell it) written in gold leaf is a real eye-opener. As are the 5m high doors from one of the mosques.

The museum is also a cool respite from the heat and sunshine, too!

I visited this museum in April 2011. The museum is in a new and modern setting with very high quality items on display. The information in English is excellent and well lit by day light. It is a rather small museum laid out on one floor only with a small collection, but serious Islamic art fans can easily spend more than 1 hour here. You must leave your camera at the security before entering the museum. The bathrooms are super modern and clean. I did not see a café or gift shop on site when I visited. It is an over 20-minute walk on broken sidewalks from the nearest metro station. I’d advise visitors to take a taxi.
