I love markets and did enjoy this despite the hassle and the haggle!
Some nice items and range of things.

I would definitely go back.

This amazing place is huge, make sure to haggle lots, you will find some great bargains and fab deals. Don't go alone and try to visit with a local friend or tour guide so they can keep you safe and will tell you which merchants to trust or not. Keep your money close by and hidden. Have fun exploring and trust me when I say you need more than 4 hours here as most of your time will be lost haggling.

Great place to shop in Old Cairo. It is helpful to have an Egyptian with you to help you haggle with the shop owners. I have been there many times and make it a stop on every visit to Egypt to pick up souvenirs for family and friends. Can't beat the prices but make sure you don't buy at the first shop you see!!! There are many, many shops and all will give you a cheaper price. Tell them the last price you received and then pass it on to the next shopkeeper. Depending on what you are buying your savings could be considerable.

Visit this wonderful market to see the buzz of Egyptian shops. Name a thing you would like to buy and you will find it. The colour adds to the retail therapy. Bargain hard. Go for cheaper items not worrying g about quality.

Khan Al-Khalili is an attempt at the old timey bazaars the mid east is famous for however it has become so affected by tourism that anyone who looks like a tourist risks having a not so fun time. It's basically a bunch of back alleys where local egyptians are trying to make a living selling perfume oil, perfume bottles, pyramids, sphinxes, jewelry...everything . But remember they are trying to make a living so as soon as they hear english realize that your price is about to at least triple. If you have Egyptian friends take them! Watch as they haggle for you! Luckily I look middle eastern and my husband is egyptian so we had a blast!
