Owner description: This famous museum houses the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyption artifacts (more than 120,000 items on display) featuring the famous Tutankhamun collection with its beautiful gold death mask and sarcophagus and the royal Mummy room, which houses an additional eleven Pharaonic dignitaries.

This museum trully takes you back to ancient egypt and is huge takes more than a day to look at properly but as we only had a few hours on our schedule our tour guide showed us the most important parts and we got about half hour in the end to go round and do our own thing. The highlight is the king tut collection i found i could stare at for hours and the mummies you can see for an extra charge. As we were told the goverment is building a new museum next to the site of the pyramids in giza and would like to return to egypt and see that one once it opens its doors.

King Ramses mummy, King Tut's mask and royal collection, ancient Greek and Egyptian statues and artifacts! Don't miss! The extra tickett to see the mummies is worth it. Cant go to Egypt and not see the royal mummies.
On the down side, the museum is not kept well. Signs seem to be 50 years old, some are hard to read due to dim lighting.

A museum for people who love museums, a person could spend days here. Tutankhamun wing is essential and stunning.

There is so much history and amazement at the museum. The real mummies and gold of the kings. The discovery of King Tuts tomb, etc. Really a great experience. Unfortunately one cannot take pictures inside the museum

No doubt this is a must see attraction in Egypt..!! Ur visit to Egypt won't count if u didn't visit the Egyptian Museum.
This place contains lots of priceless treasures from the Old Kingdom till the days of Greek Empire. The building itself is considered a monument, with all the drawings and the marble sculptures on the front side..and of course the jewel of the crown; King Tut's exhibits and the mummies' rooms.

I rated the place "very good" because of the delayed maintenance issues, some drawbacks in cleanliness, heat in summer and finally the dimmed atmosphere.
