This was a wonderful place to visit. To know that something so beautiful kept Cairo safe from invasion is inspiring. I would recommend spending a few hours on the grounds and at least a few hours inside the mosque adjacent to the Citadel.

Great view over Cairo , a part of Egypt's modern history started there, if in Cairo it is a must to visit it.

One of the old places in old cairo that is a must to visit. Professional photographers will shoot some great shots in various scenes inside that place.

The Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali sit perched on hill overlooking Cairo and hence offer a great view of the city. The Mosque itself is quite large and well decorated. It is constructed from the alabaster covering of the pyramids which is a shame.
