It was our first visit to Cairo and we chose the Sofitel based on its location, brand reputation and reviews. The hotel is perfectly located right on the banks of the Nile River. You can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Nile from the various restaurants on the premises as well as many of the rooms.
We selected a Club Millesime Luxury Room as we enjoy the benefits of and love to try the club facilities in all hotels that we stay in. The check-in was at Club Millesime and our welcome drink was a delicious mango juice. The fruit juices are a real treat in Cairo as they are all freshly squeezed The views from the club lounge are also spectacular. The drinks, food and snacks at the club lounge were excellent. The service at Club Millesime under the leadership of Mr Mohamed was exceptional. Mr Mohamed and his team welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that it felt like we were visiting family. Everything was possible at Club Millesime. Mr Mohamed arranged several surprises for my birthday celebration - I received a beautiful pink rose from Asra, the Arabic dessert Um Ali was specially prepared for us, a table was set for us with Oriental/Arabic sweets and desserts and lastly the water ceremony ritual (water contained in a beautiful jug is gently poured over your hands into a dish containing rose petals - a beautiful experience). My brother who was staying at another Accor hotel was able to join us for our celebrations at the club lounge.
The guest relations staff (Caroline, Noura and Sara) had arranged for the following to celebrate my birthday and our annivesary - bed decorated with rose petals, a birthday cake and a plate of sweet treats, a bottle of non-alcoholic bubbly, a vase with red roses and a poster made from photos of us that they found on Facebook. This was all happening within two hours after check-in. It was unbelievable. It was incredible.
Our room was on the 24th floor and we had a small balcony with stunning views of the Nile. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean with a comfortable bed,pillows and linen. There was enough hanging space for clothes. There was a fruit platter and daily complimentary water.
The lobby of the hotel is big and airy with a spectacular chandelier. The decor is a mix of Oriental and French. Make sure that you watch the candle ceremony that is performed by the staff at 5pm everyday. We were taken on a guided tour of the hotel by the delightful Caroline from Guest Relations. There is a beautiful pool with plenty of seating around it. The spa is very popular with guests and day visitors. We watched the ladies make Arabic bread at Kebabgy Restaurant and even got to taste it while still piping hot.
Breakfast could be had at the club lounge or Casa Mia Restaurant. We ate at both. The spread at Casa Mia was plentiful and catered for a wide variety of tastes. The food was excellently prepared under the watchful eye of Chef Salah Mahmoud. The restaurant staff under the leadership of Ahmed Younes ensured that the service was exceptional at all times. It was wonderful to see how everyone participated to ensure that the guests received the best service. I loved the various flavours of madeleines and the chocolate milk that was always available at breakfast. In addition to what was on the buffet, we got to taste the following that was made specially for us - fuul made the Alexandrian way, feteer with emmental, feteer with keshta, tamia.
Words cannot truly express the experience that we had at this hotel. Every member of staff that we engaged with, provided exceptional service. But it went beyond the service, room, location and food - it was warmth and kindness that only exists in an environment where people are really happy to have you there as their guest. Great location away from all the city traffic. All the restaurants on site are top tier including the breakfast buffet. The view from your room would leave you speechless whether you had a Nile or City view.

After reading reviews I had greater expectations for the hotel. While the common areas are gorgeous, the rooms could use some updating. As far as the restaurants, the grill has great food and the floating international restaurant is good, although the menu is a bit limited. The outdoor patio is good for fresh air and tea/coffee but I had to return my food.

I'm not sure how this compares to other hotels in the area but for my short stay it was ok. Not the easiest to get to with the circle traffic, but there's traffic all over Cairo!!!

the location was very good ,the reception were amazing spicaly madam Jehan ,the only unsatisfactory thing is the behavior of one of the responsible man works in the casino it is the same bad behavior since last year .

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter
