“Why Such a Great Place by the Airport?!?!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

What is this place doing wasted on airport road? A great pool, a children's playground, a spa, casino, restaurants, and shops, this place is really a nice gem in the vicinity of the airport. We spent our last day there in order to catch a wee-morning flight and it was worth it. The Italian place inside was a bust - bland food and poor service - but the other aspects were great. We were put in our room right away and there is shuttle service to the airport 24 hours a day with just a quick phone call.

Room Tip: None of them have a super view as the area around the hotel just isnt great.

I was booked in the Hotel by Egyptair for 7 hours transit. I arrived in cairo airport at 7 am after a long 12 hours overnight flight. I found the hotel shuttle bus waiting in the designated area. In 10 minutes we were in the Hotel. Inspite of having 3 free receptionists; they declined to check guests with voucher except with one of them. We reached to receptionist; but she apologised that the room would be ready in half an hour. We went to the Restaurant for breakfast . The breakfast was open buffet and was extremely nice and delicious with a lot of varieties to choose.
We spent one hour hoping the room would be ready, but the receptionist said another 10 minutes. After 3 hours of my arrival,I had to find somebody in Adminstration as my flight time is approaching; it's rediculous to spend half my time in hotel waiting in the lobby. A lady from a back office moved around and made some calls, promised in another 10 minutes the room would be ready. I got the room in theback yard of the hotel negotiating a lift, stairs, several corridors, the garden, swimming pool and difficult unpaved pathways to reach our junk place.
The room was simple, basic, poor lighting, Electricity plug was without cover, a lot of bare wires coming out, very dangerous to use. The bed was very narrow and definitely is not for double. The housekeeping cleaning next room turned their TV to maximum with an interconnecting door and thin walls, you can hear the noise clearly. I had to alert them that we need some sleep, he lowered the sound a bit. Then came another male housekeeper arguiing with his friend in a very loud voice.
Really, I would never voluntarily come to this hotel.

The hotel is not what it used to be. Remember when this was the Movenpick hotel, now is it just a hotel lacking of maintenance and poor service.
For a few hours waiting is it OK, but I would not chose this hotel for vacation in Cairo.
When ordering a cup of black coffee, have patient. It took only 45 minutes to brew it!

good budgetary hotel but not outstanding....

My stay was almost an overnight stay

I kept the "Do not disturb" hanged outside on the door knob

However, I was astonished to find the room service staff opening the door and approaching the bed (she was almost 1 meter away from my bed)

that is really a shame

A few points which I don't like:
- you have to pay in advance and they don't give an invoice!?!
- Breakfast was included and when I wanted to have breakfast they said it's extra pay?!?
- there are works in parts of the hotel: noisy!!
- wedding parties at night cause a lot of noise

The hotel is overpriced.

Transfer to airport free.

this was a transit stay due to delay of plane. Check in was fast even if big crowd. Room was just OK. Transit was great back to terminal. Weather in the evening was superb.
The dinner buffet was par excelance. I recommend a downtown hotel if you are staying awhile.

Stayed at this hotel on a business trip at the expense of the airport having missed a connecting flight. Arrived at 3am and staff on reception were helpful. The rooms however were in need of refurbishment. Mine smelt damp, the carpet was stained and bathrooms were on need of painting and refurb.
