Extremely pleasant hotel that was apparently recently renovated. Located in Zamalek along the Nile River with awesome views from either the River Facing rooms/suites or the pool or the Gym.
The rooms are nicely setup and most are 2 or 3 bedroom suites with a twist. If you've got the 2 bedroom suit, your card key opens the door to an apartment, but then, you need to use the same card key to get into your room, pretty neat if you ask me. You get the privacy of your own room and you can extend it to the living room if you want when your "apartment mate" is not in.
The locating is also good, in a neighbourhood filled with embassies so expect to see lots of armed guards along the streets. For food and shops, it's a good 8 min walk to the left after you get out of the main door of the Hotel.
Overall, a good hotel at an especially good price. It's location is great since it's very central and gets you to most of Cairo's best places in a jiffy. Not more than 40mins by taxi to any of the main places of interest even with Cairo's congested roads.

Safir is located in Zamalek area of Cairo, which is one of the most quiet and posh areas. Close to the attractions and views of the Nile are its plus points. But on the downside, the breakfast was good with many choices but not fresh. There is an open pool but with all that pollution, one can hardly use it. The staff is friendly but not very hospitable. We had an overall good experience, but might not stay there again! :(

Stayed at Safir Zamalek for two nights in March as the start to a week in Cairo. We required a very late check-in (3:00 AM), and the staff was very accommodating to get us checked in and to our rooms as quickly as possible.

Upon arriving in the room, we found that the sheets were dirty and informed reception. Within 5 minutes, we were changed to another room (and upgraded) and we received a complimentary fruit plate. This would be the expected response, but that they were able to act so quickly at 3:45 in the morning was much appreciated! Thoughout our trip, the staff were excellent, incredibly responsive and helpful.

The rooms are nice though not spectacular, and they showed signs of age. The carpets had some stains and the furniture was quite old. As others have mentioned, there was a basic kitchen (without dishes or cooking utensils) and a seating area that was shared another room--which seemed a bit odd to us. The lobby also had the feel of an older hotel.

The location was fantasic for visiting Cairo, and the views over the Nile were impressive. Overall, this was a good hotel for us, but a bit expensive for what you get and definitely in need of some renovation.

The hotel is newly renovated, the furniture it elegant and the rooms and nice and clean. The view is nice but the only thing about the location that there is nothing much around the hotel, such as shops and restaurants.
Food was really good especially the traditional one did enjoy it. Breakfast was also good with a lot of Varity with a good view of the Nile.
Services in general was ok with exception of the first day where I had to wait for 3 hours for my internet connection in the room and also some glitches in reservation so in total the hotel was great just make sure to confirm with the hotel directly regarding your reservation before you come to Cairo.

Hi,
I had been to cairo, egypt for a month on behalf of my company for some project. So there i got the opportunity to stay at this hotel at zamalek.
Safir hotel is overall a very good hotel to stay, means it have all the basic needs that required by any guest like comfortable rooms, good restaurent, swimming pool, gymnasium, spa, massage center etc. The only thing that lacks here is that service is not upto the mark. Everytime I required any thing i have to call several times before it delivered to me. Housekeeping very rarely pick up the phone. The hotel staff doesn't know much about the area, means if you want to know that how can you go to any visiting area like shram el sheikh etc. then they don't know much about it.
Apart from that the cleanliness is good in hotel, the rooms are quite comfortable and big. The nile view is excellent. Complete privacy can be assured. Warm welcome will be there when you arrives. Arrangement for big screen for important football matches. So overall I can say that for a smaller period of stay Safir is a very good hotel to stay.

My husband and I spent six night at this hotel between Christmas and New Year. The location is great, and it was wonderful to have such a comfortable place to return to after all the hassle of Cairo. We would definitely recommend it. Zamalek is a good place to base yourself and there are plenty cafes to eat in. It's also an interesting area with lots of little shops. Look out for Nomad and the other fare trade shop for great craft souvenirs, both in Zamalek.
