we were with Egyptian in-laws, and everywhere they took us to eat they'd been many times before, and could vouch for quality and value of the dining. Locals eat here, as well as tourists who are lucky enough to know about it. the specialty is the kabob meal served family style, and the roasted stuffed pigeon - good, not to fleshy, takes like chicken. my favorite was the grilled lamb chunks! served with all the sides you might expect - flat bread, hummus, tahini, pickled veggies, a meat soup. Conical pigeon houses are found all over the country, the birds raised as a hobby and as a food source.
