“A MUST SEE if you are interested in early Islamic architecture”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

The house is located just off the Sharia Muizz Illah Lidin - which itself is probably the greatest "live museum" of Mamluk-Islamic architecture. It is well worth a visit - and a quiet place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the surrounding Khan-el-Khalili Bazaar (or rather - its northerly outskirts).
I can warmly recommend a visit - if you have time to spend and want to delve into Islamic Architecture. (But then - you also need to visit the Gayer-Anderson Museum. And the Ibn-Tulun-Mosque. And...
Cairo is really such a beautiful city!!!

“Worth seeing”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

There is a big price difference between entry fees for Egyptians and foreigners but this is an opportunity to freely explore a well-preserved Mamluk house reminiscent of Mahfouz novels. There are performances held there sometimes but the fun of running around the house is enough.

“Wonderfully restored”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

A wonderfully restored old house... Its style is really unique and beautiful and the woodwork is amazing. There is a great fish restaurant right around the corner also. It is truly the nicest house I've seen in Cairo restored...

“Nice architecture.. remnants of the past.”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Good if you're into Arabic AKA Islamic architecture and such. If not, don't worry about it. Right in the heart of the city, close to Khan El Khalili, so shouldn't be too much trouble getting there and back.
