“Great Place Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

I have been here numerous times over the years. This is the best Cafe/Restaurant establishment in Egypt. This is a very historical establishment with a high reputation, this is the place where people of any influence in Egyptian and Arab society will meet. Very prestigious and in a very good location right in the center of town. The food is very good and the service is to a high standard most of the time. Cafe Riche serves alcohol which is rare outside of Hotels in Egypt. I have seen many intellectuals and high profile people visit Riche over the years. Every time I am in Egypt i have to visit this place - a must see - simple as that!

“Nice Café”
Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

Only very lately, I visited the well known café and I was attached to it from the first time. Then I acquired the habit of visiting it regularly. Very reminiscent of good old days. The service is decent, prices are moderate and good value for money.

“great place that you must see”
Reviewed May 17, 2014

Went there last week, located in downtown, the place says a lot of stories about its history.
very ancient and full of details.
had dinner with a couple of drinks, the atmosphere gets you back to the 1900's.
the host was smiling and very friendly, there, you will find yourself in the real Cairo.

food was good, service was good, and definitely will go again.

“Fun place to have a chat and a beer”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

An Egyptian friend decided we should meet up at Cafe Riche. It's right on Talaat Harb street, which is a bustling street and where most shops close up late.

It was a fun experience. The place isn't exclusive to foreigners as most of the clientele were Egyptian. The food was very good (we had beef liver, tehina, greek salad and several chicken mains to share) and the vibe was casual and friendly. Between the six of us, the bill came to 480 Egyptian pounds, which is $8 per person. Make sure to ask for an extra cold beer and you might need to occasionally remind the waiters of your beer/water order, but it's nothing serious.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this place.

“Meet Cairo's intelligentsia of yesteryear”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

EAT at Cafe Riche; Cairo’s oldest restaurant is more about the venue than the food, which is good enough (albeit a tad pricier than other downtown venues). Of particular note are the sambousa (meat-filled mini pastries) and fish fingers, which are made from fresh chunks of delicately spiced, succulent white fish.

Once the favoured drinking spot of the capital’s intelligentsia, the cultural tour at Cafe Riche starts outside the wooden old-worldly facade on the corner of Shariaa Talaat Harb. Here in glass frames you will find beautiful black and white photography that harks back to the bygone era this restaurent is from.

After passing the front desk reminiscent of an academic’s study, the tour continues with a who’s who of Egypt’s past intelligentsia in the room off the main restaurant. Here huge black and white profiles hang shrine fashion. Don’t let the linger of stale tobacco put you off as you admire these and the intriguing cartoon caricatures on the walls and not to mention the ridiculous ‘fairground’ outfits of the waiters. It’s advisable not to arrive too hungry though as Cafe Riche doesn’t just take you back in time but also takes its time when it comes to service. The shine was taken slightly of our visit by this, though the freshness of the food and the interesting displays more than made up for it. See if you can find the gramophone in the midst of all the oddities.
