Cruising down the nile was an awsome experience , however we were moored some days for too long. Vistiting the Temples was amazing very full on , we stayed for 7 nights, for the first 4 days we were up at 6am so that the visiting you do does not get too hot however they are all very similar Valleys of the Kings was the best. The poverty and dirtiness of these areas was disturbing they are all so desparate to get money of off you wich can be quiet frighting.Meal time routine on ship can get a bit taxing as it's very samey although good.Beware lots of flies too in these areas. In Aswan they bib the hooters fron morning to night a very noisy place not pleasent when you want to relax. We stayed on Sentino Marousha not a bad ship I suppose evenings was not very entertaining very dark area. Med our tour guide was fantastic very helpful and new his stuff. I would not recommed pre booking trips as you can decide when you are there.

We sailed from Luxor to Aswan on the MS Nile Dolphin. The boat was luxurious, with excellent service. We were taken care of from the moment we arrived, especially by our tour guide. He was particularly gracious and took extra special care of us. He has extensive knowledge which was up to date. This combined with his great command of the English language meant we got the most out of every tour we went on. He answered all our questions with ease and made sure we got the most out of the experience due to his passion for his homeland. It was truly a pleasure touring with him, and I now consider him a friend.

We did this via The Pharaohs Nile Cruise Company. A fantastic evening with tasty food & lovely dance entertainment. We were fortunate to have a wedding on board as well, so that really add significantly positively to the mood. A must do in Egpyt......remember you cruising the NILE:)

We are just back from a week cruising down the Nile from Luxor to the Aswan Dam. We sailed with Viking Cruises and they looked after us very well with a fantastic guide, lovely boat, good food and 10 very good trips included in the price. Clearly Egypt is having a difficult time at the moment but there were no signs of trouble even in Luxor although it is clear that they have few tourists (13% of the numbers two years ago) and are suffering because of this. The advantage is that there are no crowds at the temples and tombs and actually, apart from the relentless efforts to sell you things, it is a very good tijme to visit. We had a fantastic week and saw and did so much (Karnak by day then by night for the Sound and Light show, Valley of Kings & of Queens, various tombs, temples of Hapshetsut, Phillae, Luxor and Abu Simbel). Cruising down the river is just lovely and reliable hot sun is so welcome after our miserable weather!! The temples and tombs are amazing and our visit to a Nubian village was a real highlight. Be warned, take pound coins so that you can buy small items or give tips and don't take your cash in Scottish notes as no-one, not even banks, will accept them. We recommend Viking wholeheartedly and if you have the chance to have Mohammed as your guide you are lucky. His knowledge of Egyptian history is incredible and he did everything he could to give us a fantastic holiday.

We had a week's cruise from Luxor. The boat is spotless and the standard of accommodation is excellent. The food is of a reasonable quality and the prices of drinks is not too steep. A coke costs £1.50 and a beer costs £2.90. There are towels on the top deck so you don't need to take your own. Staff are all helpful and extremely kind. The trips are brilliant and it is definitely worth doing the Abu Simbel trip. This is a superb holiday and my children (11 and 13) both enjoyed it although at times found the heat tiring. (Umbrellas are good if you think you might want some shade!)
