First of all its on a 6th floor, I contacted the hotel in advance and texted to say of our late arrival, we turned up to find the doors chained shut and locked, door bell didn't work and no answer on the phone, eventually a group of other customers arrived and let us in. The room, all i can say is bed was nice, we booked, private bathroom, with shower and toilet, what we got was a seperate walled area in our room, not even connecting to the exterior walls, dirty toilet, and shower, sink was off the wall, the mirror had been taped to the wall, the balcony doors would not shut properly, electrics on show on the ceiling, dirt and dusty fire place, and a rather quick decision to say tomorrow we rebook into a different hotel. The fact we were locked out was rather distressing due to the protests, and even late in the night, bricks were being thrown between to crowds of locals, the balcony where people were to have breakfast did look nice, but the lift was not secure, in the way there was no protect from falling out, as no doors for the lift cabin itself. Very poor hotel and would not recommend, even on a very small budget.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel

This hotel is very bad, the room with bathroom dose not have shower or water, the clean of the room is not that great like the hotels I used to use. very poor,
the room has a lot of dust and the door is not able to close well.

What been useful is that this hotel is very near to Tahrir Sq, but that's all.

Room Tip: I would not recommend you this hotel.

This is just a few blocks from all the action of Tahrir Sq, and the terrace has a great view of the same. however, it is dusty, dark and dirty. aside from the terrace there is nowhere to sit, and you won't want to be in your room. bathrooms are gross and leaky, bed was a weird old mattress like a hammock, and breakfast was bread with a packet of jam with (get ready...) dried maggots stuck to the top! we had already complained so much it wasn't even worth mentioning the jam, the guys working at the desk seemed to think we were just particularly whiney.I think it is worth the few extra bucks to stay in one of the hostels/hotels with better reviews nearby...

Wonderful Location - really close to Tahrir Sq, Museum and All of Down-Towns' nightlife. The hostel owner was very nice, all the people were nice and they tired to help you as best as possible with anything - Including getting us dinner when we were to jetlagged and tired to go out and eat. The only issue was with the cleaniness, bathrooms were horrible and there was hardly any hot water, with no water pressure - but still an ok stay for the price, if i stayed next time i would just go shared not private.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony is nicest.

Stayed here for over two weeks in February 2010.
The Hostel is in a very central location just along from Tahrir Square so you do get the noise of Central Cairo but you get used of it. If you can't, go to Maadi.
The Staff are really friendly and try their best.
The infrastructure and plumbing are far from perfect but overall on a Hostel rating this place is Very Good Value and the location is excellent.
Beano's over the road is great!

Room Tip: The En-suite's are sometimes just built into the corner of the room. Don't expect the Grand...

This place is so central to Cairo that it is a must stay place. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the driver services that they provide are superb. We had an amazing driver called Solo who made every effort to take us where we wanted and to places we needed to go. He was even aware of our budget constraints, being the beginning of a two month sojourn through the middle east, and was highly entertaining. We used Solo for a few days and he quickly got us around town, through horrendous traffic and went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our time in this frenetic city. We were picked up from the airport and delivered to the door of the hotel, although the builders yard on the ground floor surprised us at first. But a trip up the interesting lift and we were above the noise of this bustling city and in a large room with it's
own private bathroom. Having breakfast on the roof terrace each day was superb and being
able to look over the balcony and watch the daily life of the locals was fantastic. We cannot thank the people of the Cecilia Hotel enough for making our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: The private rooms with bathrooms are great and very convenient. Rooms on the road side tho a little...
