I stayed at this hotel with my brother, Firstly it rates itself as a four star hotel but it looked and felt for like a 2 star hotel. Upon arrival we were told they dont have a twin room available. The manager wasnt apologetic and made us feel like we are inconveniencing him. Gave us single rooms which was ok.

The rooms were quite small and the bathroom only had a tiny shower which wasnt as clean as it could be. We went to have dinner at the hotel on the first night. The food was really awful, the portions were small, the table cloths were dirty, the waiters were rubbish. Breakfast was equally bad of not worse. There were flies and ants every where, they had really awful food most of which was cold, the only thing remotely edible there was tea and croissant.

The only good thing is you can see the pyramids from the hotel room and the giza pyramids are only ten minutes walk from there.

This hotel is definitely not four star, the customer service is really terrible. Wgypt was amazing but the hotel really let us down big time.

We had four nights at the Tiba in December last year and enjoyed the stay. It was better than we had anticipated for a budget-level Cairo hotel, having read of other people's sometimes bad experiences in Egyptian hotels.
Rooms were clean and well appointed, there is an excellent view to the pyramids (which were a short walk away), and we had friendly helpful staff and even room service.
Like others we were caught out by the 'press the button' hot water system, forgetting what we had read in reviews. So it was a luke-warm shower on one occasion.
The only somewhat negative comment is that the Tiba has a tired restaurant and needs management there to do some kind of make-over to attract the tourists!
Personally we cannot see any major reason for the Tiba to not be totally filled with budget-conscious tourists IF a few changes were made. It has a lot going for it, and we would stay there again.
Tiba needs to give European / Australian etc tourists a breakfast that appeals to the Western palate. Sure, we were willing to try Egyptian cuisine and did, but the Tiba fell short of exciting us with its offerings (especially breakfast, which was very unappealing to us but in all fairness may have been quite suitable for the local Egyptian guests).
The surroundings in the restaurant were unimpressive , and table cloths etc looked tired and not fresh and clean as they should. However restaurant staff were very helpful and several evening meals we had there were well cooked and tasty.
In summary, the Tiba was a good place to stay apart from the need for some proper attention to detail and a better breakfast choice in the restaurant.

We were so tired after a 24-hour trip and we're just so looking forward to having a decent meal then a good rest. But after seeing our rooms (we had 2 adjoining rooms) , we just can't bring ourselves to crash into those beds. They put us in this room facing a very busy and noisy intersection (we can hear the beeping and hooting of the vehicles outside), not to mention the mosque nearby calling all those who are faithful to pray at 5 in the morning. If not for our jetlag, we probably wouldn't have slept. There was not much selection for breakfast and the restaurant had very old fittings and furnitures. The only upside of being in this hotel is it's a good 30-minute walk to the Great Pyramids Sound and Light Show. This was booked for us by our travel agent and judging from the number of people coming in everyday, this hotel is somehow a popular stop in the Giza area, not sure why. The shower area is hardly a shower area, it's just a little bit bigger than the toilet sink, and the curtain is a bit short so the floor is inundated with water afterwards. We were really glad when our 3-night stay there was over.

I booked an Egypt tour through EOL Tours. This was their hotel for Cairo. It was positioned as a 4 star. No way. I figure it's a 2 at most. We stayed here at two different times - when we first arrived (1 night) and just before we left Egypt (2 nights). The first night we got a suite - quite spacious with a sitting room and separate sleeping area. I liked the set up. Unfortunately the heating device didn't work in the sitting room so we were confined to the bedroom area. It's quite chilly relatively speaking in January (10-13 degrees Celsius at night). The bathroom was relatively clean but the shower area was tight. I would rank this stay as average for a 2 star and poor as a 4 star. One very positive thing was the view from our hotel room which was the Giza pyramid.

When we returned, the room was much, much smaller. There was no sitting area and the double bed was pushed against the wall. There was nowhere to hide if the door opened un-expectantly. There was a very tiny window with no view at all - actually think most of the view was a brick wall with a peak view of the road. The bathroom was clean but very very small. The shower was even smaller than the first room. When we showered it always flooded the floor. We just asked for extra towers and kept them on the floor.

The service was average - not exceptional but not too bad. They helped us with finding food after midnight. They set up the netbook so we can access the internet (US$5 for an hour). The restaurant facilities were adequate - although the food was usually bland. I found the food very tasty in Egypt so was disappointed with the hotel food.

Finally, we did suffer from bed bug bites; however, we are not entirely sure if we brought it from our previous hotel or if this one also had bed bugs. I think we fared better than other guests. I overheard one lady in the lobby talk about not having toilet paper or a towel rack. We had both. The streets of Cairo are very noisy. Because the hotel is at a big intersection, traffic noise (car honking mostly) was very high. Didn't bother me to sleep but could be annoying to others. It's virtually 24 hours - slows down around midnight but doesn’t go away. I think I would have found this hotel to be okay if it wasn't positioned as a 4 star. I have certain expectation of a 4 star and it definitely was not met. As long as they don't have bed bugs, I would recommend this hotel for the budget traveller. Neither I nor my friends are in that category so I would not recommend to them.

The rooms were clean(for Egyptian standards) with great view of the pyramids. Location is noisy, but every location in Cairo is. Breakfast buffet was average. Price for a double was EUR90, probably cheaper when pre-booked.

Tiba pyramid hotel has a stunning view of the pyramids! However the location is at the corner of a busy intersection with non stop honking from drivers and people speaking very loudly...

I would hv to rate this hotel as 1 1/2 - 2 stars... I did not pick this hotel, as this was the hotel selected by the tour company I had participated in.

Staff were lovely at reception, however they never seemed to answer the phone when you call.

Overall if you don't mind noise and want to be very close to the pyramids, stay at tina pyramid hotel.
