“Gorgeous hotel with roof-top garden overlooking historic Islamic Cairo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

This hotel is a real gem. Stunning antique furniture combined with chic modern bathrooms and spacious suites. Truly luxurious. Every evening sitting in the roof-top garden overlooking minarets and historic buildings. Right next to Khan Al-Khalili and it's cafe's and shops and near other sights like Beit Al-Suhaymi. Just gorgeous. And very friendly, kind staff who sort out any problem you might have getting taxis or advising on travel plans, etc. I would definitely go back again (and did, in fact, on my last night in Cairo having stayed there three nights at the start of the trip). By the way, this is a great time to visit Egypt - empty sights and perfectly safe.

Room Tip: All of the suites are different and beautiful. I stayed in two different ones, each with a different...

If you are looking for a place that thrives on history, I advice you to try Le Riad Hotel de Charme in the famous Al Moez Street. My friend and I spent 3 nights in this little building with its distinguished location, furniture theme and atmosphere. The suite we were given was spacious with a bedroom, a little office, a lovely bathroom and as sitting area. From the little old balcony, you can enjoy witnessing Egyptian life that never gets tired day or night, with the great songs of Om Kalthoum tickling your ears from the opposite building.

This stay will allow you to visit all the Islamic monuments in the area such as Beit El Suheimi, Sabeel Mohamed Ali, Masjid Qalawoun, and many other Islamic buildings.

The hotel serves continental breakfast at the tea lounge on the first floor. The lounge is very beautiful and deserves to be promoted.

Our only drawback was that the WiFi did not work during our stay and that affected our mood as we needed to contact our families on a regular basis.

Live in old egypt at this hotel. Wonderful large rooms. Comfortable beds, pillows and great showers. Wifi is slow, food isn't great. But the location is outstanding. Get lost in the Khan and wander back to the hotel. Visit the numerous sites near the hotel (get ticket at the mosque). merchants House is across from hotel (different ticket but cheap). Will definitely go back.

Now is the best moment to visit Egypt. Don't mind the events. They are confined to certain areas only. Mainly in Tahir Square in Cairo for instance - just a few hundred square meters. Away from there, in the heart of Old Cairo (with it's wonderful market), don't go anywhere but here. It's beautiful, rooms are spacious, and the service can't be more perfect. All the staff would do anything to help. All make you feel like a king or a queen. Hussein was particularly remarquable and I thank him again for his wonderful welcome. I very warmly recommend Le Riad and will go back as soon as I can.

We are in the middle of 3 nights at Le Riad. We are from Canada and it's our first time to Egypt. Overall, Egypt has been an amazing experience so far, and we have barely started exploring the rest of the country. The people are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful in every way possible everywhere we have been so far. Le Riad is in the heart of the old Islamic part of Cairo; parts of the city walls are still standing just a couple blocks from the hotel. There is a bizaar/market only a few blocks away as well. The market is busy and interesting, but be prepared to have people "helping" you, even when you don't want it!

As other posts mention, the hotel itself is beautifully decorated; each room is unique. The best part has been the kindness and helpfullness of the staff, who have run out to get us things if we need it and answered all of our questions about life in Cairo/Egypt.

There are a number of mosques in the immediate vicinity which you can see from the rooftop terrace and hear the calls-to-prayer, which is very interesting.

There are not many tourists here at all on the streets! From what I've been told, this area in particular would have hundreds or thousands of tourists on the street each day. In the two days we've been here, I'd say I've seen maybe a dozen! If you don't want to be around tons of tourists, this is the place to be... and with that being said, Egypt has been a great place to visit. It has been safe in the areas we've been and they need people to come as the economy seems to be struggling a lot with the decreased number of tourists in the last couple of years. Overall an amazing trip so far and I'd recommend coming to Egypt!

Room Tip: The top floor provides the most amazing views, but each room is unique and very nice.

We are Australians who have just returned from touring Egypt - While visiting the Islamic part of Cairo our guide kindly showed us this wonderful boutique style hotel.
WOW - every room has a different theme - it really is very unique and special - each room is a piece of art in itself. I only wish we had stayed here - I console myself by saying "next time".
I know my biggest problem will be choosing which room - as they are all spectacular.
When I choose a hotel I rate cleanliness highest followed by position this hotel certainly meets both these needs.
Another important consideration is the bathroom - every bathroom in this Hotel is large, marble, excellent sized & with fully enclosed showers.
Surrounding this Hotel were very genuine and super friendly locals although it was busy and noisy as we were walking through the surrounding area I was amazed how peaceful and quite inside the hotel itself was!
I will also say this is a good area to shop, not as intense and much better priced - an example is a good quality scarf that other vendors elsewhere in Egypt would begin at 180,000 Egyptian pounds and higher here the starting price was 30,000.
As mentioned in earlier reviews there has been a change in management (the Hotel is still owned by one of the original 2 owners) and I had the great pleasure of meeting the new manager Nahed Hamy – Nahed’s attention to detail is most impressive.
Nahed could not have been more helpful and giving of her precious time.
All the staff are super friendly and helpful, I have no doubt this Hotel will satisfy those with the highest standards.

Room Tip: Every room is very individual and special - you are spoilt for choice.
