I stayed at Nile Garden Hotel, on the banks of River Nile, during my stay in Cairo this September-October.
The hotel is well located, close to the river and not far from a busy locality of Cairo, the Manial Main Road, which is within walking distance of the hotel. The University Bridge over the River Nile is a few yards from the hotel and is an ideal place to spend your evenings, strolling around.
Qasr Al Ayni hospital and its attached medical college is not far from the hotel - in fact, my visit to Cairo was connected to my business at this hospital.
The hotel is reasonably clean and well maintained. And, the hotel staff are courteous.
At 145 Egyptian Pounds per day, single rooms are a bit costly. However, with breakfast thrown in, it turns out to be reasonable. But, for some reason, the hotel management has fixed a uniform rate for single rooms with or without attached bathrooms. This means that you have to shell out extra bucks for less facilities.
If you like Egyptian food, there is no dearth of food outlets nearby. However, if you are particular for your own ethnic cuisine, you will have to go hunting in the center of the city.
Overall, I would say that this hotel is reasonably well priced, neat and located at an ideal spot in Cairo.

Room tip: Choose rooms facing the Nile. You have a good view of the river and cool wind blowing in the evenings.

This is a small hotel. Nile river view is unbelieveable. Clean, but if you are picky this is not the place for you. We got for about fifty american dollars a day a room with 5( as in five) twin beds (split into 2 sleeping areas) dining area with full size fridge. Private bath with shower only. Is air conditioned. Breakfast is included............consists of eygptian breads, pastries, boiled egg. Tea or Nescafe. They will bring to your room or you can go to dining room. The room was cleaned daily, but if your sheets are clean they might have a cigarette burn in them. Staff is kind and protective of guests. Plumbing is bad, but if you are patient you can deal with getting shower water temp right. At this price you can't beat it and I will stay there again when I go back next year. The location is central to everything and grocery stores nearby are at local not tourist prices.
