I was really excited to try this restaurant! I booked a table here for my mother's birthday, since she was coming to see me in Korea and would be here on the day, and we wanted to go somewhere more upscale. We ordered the green coconut curry pasta with chicken, calamari, and the king prawn with tamarind sauce.
The calamari was a good start - it was delicious. When the king prawn dish came, however, we discovered that although the presentation was beautiful and the prawns were battered and deep fried, the entire shell had been left on them. We asked the server for help, and the manager came over and explained that when prawns are deep fried, the shell is edible. We gave it a try, but the shells were so thick that we were unable to chew through them and it was almost the texture of fingernails in our mouths. We gently asked if there was anything the staff could do, as it was a special occasion and we were unable to eat the dish. The manager said, "No. This is how the dish is served. We can't do anything for you." We ended up having to peel away all of the batter and shells, and only about 1/4 of the dish was edible.
When the pasta came, we were also disappointed to find that the portion was small, and there were only a few very small pieces of chicken in it (about the size of 100 won coins or nickels). It was also extremely spicy, to the point that even my boyfriend, who is Korean and enjoys spicy food, found it unpalatable.
Overall, we paid 80,000won and left hungry. For the amount we paid, we could have gone to any number of similarly priced restaurants and had a great experience. We are disappointed that we chose this restaurant for our special occasion. My mother was only in Korea once on her birthday, and this experience ruined it.
