Kimbab Cheongug ("Gimbap Heaven") is a cheap Korean fastfood chain. It is well-known for its 1,000 won wonjo ("original") gimbab (which is now 1,500 won due to inflation).
The funny thing about this chain is that the quality and taste varies from location to location. And sometimes the product itself changes from time to time. So it's difficult for me to understand how this is a chain besides the franchise owners paying a royalty to use the name. Even the one located where I live used to have a crap wonjo gimbap with only a little bit of omelet and dakkuan. Recently, they upgraded it and it does taste good with lots of ingredients. So it's definitely more than worth the 1,500 won. So what gives? They can't even have uniform quality or even ingredients?
Anyhow, this is a fast and cheap way to get yourself full. But the quality and taste are very low by any standard. It's only slightly cheaper than other places that serve better food. I just don't think you should put this up as one of the top places to eat in Seoul! Please!
