“Value for $$$ comparing to other accommodations!”
Reviewed December 7, 2011

A typical service apartment but don't expect a 5-star standard because they don't pretend to be. The reservation via email is a slight hassle but they do normally respond within 24hrs. Stayed a week at this place and the overall experience was okay. Only 5 minutes walk to the subway METRO (Chungmuro) station, its a breeze to get around Seoul.

Considering the price paid for the accommodation during this season (end-Nov), it was very reasonable compared to many other hotels around this time.

The apartment is clean and housekeeping is only on weekdays. They provide additional towels and toiletries over the weekend.

They have a small kitchenette which you could do some simple cooking and we used that occasionally when we had Ramens/Bulgolgi/Kimchi outside one too many!!

The only complain I've got is that the water pressure in the apartment we stayed were really inconsistent!!! The water could get either very hot or very cold ... and it would some time trickle or a huge blast!!! So, maybe would-be travellers to this place oughta check on this before moving in.

The staffs were friendly and helpful.

Really can't ask for more.

Room Tip: Try to request for rooms facing Namsan

I stayed at Han Suites for two weeks and I was very happy with them. There were a lot of people on business staying here, and Han Suites is probably used more for extended stays rather than vacations, but it was perfect for me.

Most (if not all) of the staff spoke English (important to me, since it's my only language) and they were always friendly and eager to help. The staff helped me to my room and showed me how to use the heating system (ondol floors are the best!!!), which was great considering the controls were written in Hangul.

The only strange thing for me was that in order to get to the gym, laundry and other facilities, you had to use a different elevator. I basically took the elevator to the lobby and switched there.

Han Suites is located at the bottom of Namsan, which means if you are walking, you need to climb up the street to get to the hotel, but it's ony a minute or two, so it's completely doable.

Chungmuro subway station is a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, and Namsangol Hanok Village is probably 15 minutes.

We loved the location of the hotel, less than 10mins walk to Chungmuro Station walk past it then turn to the left is the Namsol Village. The hotel is clean and tidy. 2 Computers at the Lobby. The photos in the website is the 2 Bedroom Apartment. The front office staffs are all very helpful to our needs, i.e. booking of Nami Island transfer from Insadong, where to eat atc. They speak quite good English. Walking to Myeongdong is less than 15mins casual stroll. There were 9 of us, we had 3 Standard rooms and a 2 Bedroom Apartment. The Standard bedroom are actually located on the ground level and below ground. Afterall we are back in the hotel in the night to have a good night sleep and for the price we paid. Which we all did. You can take the lift to the basement carpark, walk along the the alley which is safe and you on the main street. On the right is the Police Station, walk further down you can catch the Seoul City Tour (which we did) and Chungmuro Station. Aiport Bus stops in front of the Sejong Hotel.

My wife and I just got back from a two night stay at Han Suites, and my advice is simply to stay away from this hotel - their website is in NO WAY a reflection of the actual rooms or the hallways. We actually already had a room reserved at the Renaissance in Gangnam and only switched to Han Suites because we wanted to be closer to the center of Seoul and more importantly the room pictures on the Han Suites hotel website looks great (which again, is not a real representation) – a terrible mistake.

The first room we had is equivalent to a Motel 6 in the US (or Motel 168 in Shanghai) but with no window and opened straight to the laundry room. After 30 minutes trying to switch to a nicer room, our second room (room 510 – studio premier) was essentially the same but slightly bigger. The bathroom was even smaller (we had to take turns using it because it was that small <10 sq feet). You had to call for them to bring a personal safe into the room - if someone wanted to steal your things they can easily just take the entire safe which only weighed 20 pounds or so since I moved it around the room trying to find a good location for it.

I went back to the front desk to see if they actually had rooms that somewhat represented the website – I was told there was nothing left and that their website is "outdated" and that they are working on updating it (you mean they will update it to actually show their rooms and hallway is in reality much worse? I don't believe it). But after having spent over 60 minutes with the check in process, we had to go meet friends and decided to write off our hope for a better room.

Another thing is that the location was not easy to find, even for taxi drivers as they routinely have issues finding it even with the hotel provided map. Only once did we have a taxi driver not get lost and realized all the other times we were charged 30-40% more. In fact, one of our taxi drivers was so embarrassed after getting really lost he refused to take our money.

In short – don’t believe the website and avoid this hotel if you can. You will save yourself the disappointment and the constant frustration of getting lost in a taxi – there are better options around Seoul.

Been there with my parents in June. It was raining all morning everyday we were there. Good thing we stayed at two bedroom deluxe at Han Suites. It has kitchen and living room. So, we cooked our breakfast everyday. Living room was so nice. We can see Seoul tower from our window. TV has cable with plenty of channels. I'm addicted to tennis. Never miss one match when I was there. Awesome! Internet is not wireless except in the lobby and it's not free. Taxi driver don't know the address. So, pretty hard to find. Anyway, the service is exceptional. Eddy, the receptionist was superb, polite and helpful.
I'll go back for sure!!

We stayed in Han Suites in March 2011 for a week and were very happy with our stay. The service was excellent and all staff extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant downstairs was very good. We had a two bedroom flat that was quite big and confortable. The bed felt really hard in the beginning but was actually surprisingly good to sleep in. The place is a bit hard to find and the area a bit run down but it is close to a metro station and you can get around Seoul quickly. There are a few sights within walking distance, too.

As far as possible improvements are concerned, the flat did have quite minimal amount of kitchen equipment so that could be added. Also, it would be good to have some written instructions for the air con, dishwasher etc. in English.

But overall we would recommend Han Suites to families with small children as we think it's a lot easier to stay in a flat rather than a hotel room. We felt really welcome and happy there.

This is my second review of Han Suites for 2010. Yes, we liked it so much, we actually went back in Winter! And it was an excellent choice, yet again. It was like coming back to a second-home. Our boys, aged 9 & 14 also love the Han Suites. After a couple of times, they were able to tell the cab drivers to stop at Astoria Hotel, and knew exactly how to get back to the Suites.

As always, the staff are unfailingly polite, always ready to help. Not much has changed since June 2010. Our stay was in 2 parts: 11-13 June, 16-21 June. We broke our trip in between to go up to Yangji Pine Resort.

For Part 1, we had our previous apartment and it was a welcome treat to come back to something so familiar. Part 2 was in a room across the airwell. And it was even better!

In June 2010, a new eatery, the branch of Myeongdong Noodle was being set up. Now that it is completed, it offered Korean homestyle cooking in a clean and modern set-up. At less than a minute from the carpark of Han Suites, it was definitely our go-to restaurant.

This time, being Winter, the warm floors were nice. With the glass door kept slightly ajar, the cool/cold winter air was refreshing.

There is now a TV in the smaller bedroom of the 2-bedroom apartment. We brought it into the masterbedroom. Our younger son preferred to sleep in the living room, so bringing out the mattress was no problem. Our older son had an extra bed already made up in the living room.

I mentioned in June that there was no cutlery in the apartment. This time, we asked to 'borrow' 4 sets so we could have cereal and milk for breakfast. And they promptly brought it up. So, I guess you just need to request for it.

All in all, another great stay! And yes, we won't be staying anywhere when in Seoul, for sure!
