My stay in Seoul was all the better for staying at the Doulos. The staff were professional, helpful and extremely pleasant. The location was great, rooms small but new and clean. However the best aspect of the hotel was that the people staying - mainly Japanese and Canadians - were very friendly and willing to chat over breakfast.. It made the whole stay very convivial and as a solo traveller, I enjoyed chatting and getting advice each morning before setting off for the day.

Highly recommended for single female travellers.

Wow, I truly loved this place. The staff are very attentive and most speak English well enough. The room (which was the cheapest one they have) was immaculately clean, well maintained, and with modern furnishings. It was not a spacious room but it was not tiny.

The free breakfast each morning was delicious! Fresh croissants, eggs, soup, toast, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, pineapple and orange juice (not from concentrate ;)..)

The location was super as well. Just a 5 minute walk from Jongno 3-ga subway station (which intersects with 3 subway lines), and within walking distance of Insadong.

Oh, and the bed was extremely comfortable as well! And free LAN internet!

Doulos hotel is by far the best value hotel in Seoul. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that Doulos would be one of best experiences to any visitor to Seoul where very few bargains are available for the tourists. The staff at the reception as well as of house-maintenance are extremely kind and courteous. The breakfast buffet is unbelievably generous and of a high quality: soup, salad-I noticed that the Japanese like it-, boiled eggs, 4 kinds of delicious and freshly baked bread, hand-made sausage of 3 kinds, cereal, 2 kinds of yogurts, and coffee/teas. When it comes to teas, they put a box of gourmet teas of various kinds along with Lipton yellow label tea bag. The room is quite small but is very clean and free of ordor. The buildiing is new and well maintained. They have a washing machine and dryer in the basement, and give you a free bottle of detergent although you have put coins for operation. They are extremely thoughtful of every aspect of customers' needs. In Seoul, where local people seem to be all driven by economic pursuits, this hotel is a true oasis. The only drawback is that it is literally located in an alley and the surroundings are not really pretty - I was told that the area will go through re-development-, and I cannot complain about it as it keeps the rate so reasonable. It is however very close to all the palaces and particularly Insadong, which is steps away. Personally, I wish to keep it as my top secret in Seoul.
