“Value for money, Myeongdong is not the nearest metro station”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

This hotel was easy for us to locate as we took a cab there. If you are unsure, just follow the map given on the hotel's website. :) There are many eateries in the area and many working adults have their gatherings there late at night. The area definitely transformed at night with all the neon lights. During the stay, the room we had was small but very clean and sufficient (with necessary toiletries, heater, tv with many channels etc.) Happy that there is a laundry room for us to use and the airport bus transfer is very nearby! The staff were also very fluent in English and rather helpful in their explanations on how to get to places.
However, it is a bit troublesome to go down to level 2 to get drinking water, especially when it's late at night. So perhaps, every floor can be provided with drinking water or thermal flasks provided in rooms.
Also, Myeongdong is not as near as mentioned. It is actually quite a walk and we even considered taking subway to the nearest station instead but still, the lines are different. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Myeongdong but imagine having to walk through and fro many times especially when you are very tired.

This is our second stay at the Doulos Hotel. I highly recommend this hotel, it's a short walking distance from Jongno 3 station. It's close by many restaurants and at night food stands pop up at the corner near the hotel for some cheap, clean, and tasty street food. The Doulos hotel is also close to the Insadong Tourist spot where you can book your day trip to Nami Island.
There's also the airport bus stop across the street that the Doulos Hotel alleyway is located.
We'd be staying here again the next time we spend time in Seoul.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the alleyway so you won't end up smelling the fish being grill...

Very nice place, and beautifully located in the city. Very close to a subway stop, right in the middle of the action, with friendly and helpful service. In house auto laundry.
Highly recommended, both for busines and for pleasure trips.

If you ignore the alleyway you use to get to the Doulos, you will find this hotel to be a little gem. Small rooms, but they have everything you need. Limited breakfast, but very satisfying. Everything in the hotel is clean and fresh, and the staff has mastered the art of niceness, almost embarrassingly so. For example, when you enter the lobby they jump up if they've been seated and give you a smile and a bow. They also speak enough English to answer basic questions. Back to the alleyway: the best thing about it is that the Jongno 3-ga subway is right outside the alley(exit #15) and from there you can go anywhere in the city on the marvelous subway system they have. Also, restaurants and coffee shops abound. In fact, I've never seen more coffee shops in any other city in the world! By the way, Insadong walking street is only a few blocks from the hotel....this is the place most tourists head to...join them!

Room Tip: We chose a deluxe room...I think it's a bit larger than the superior rooms. If I went back (and...

good location only 3 min walk to the subway, but a little bit difficult to find. The hotel is not at the street but in the middle of alley ways and shops.Lots of facilities around and lots of restaurant. The room is tiny but well-decorated and very quiet. breakfast is good.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel from Oct 1 to 7, 2013. At first , we had a hard time looking for it, since it is located in the middle of intersecting alley ways in Jongno-go 3. And it was almost midnight when we touch down in Incheon. We road the airport bus, and when the bus dropped us off, we went around the street looking for the Hotel. the hotel we saw in the cormer was Sutton Hotel, we asked the front desk, and they were very helpful. One of them even brought us directly to Doulos Hotel, since it was at the back alley. Doulos Hotel staff are very accomodating, speaks fluent english and very courteous. The rooms are somewhat small, but it was ok for us. The breakfast is very good and fulfilling, although we had the same breakfast everyday. The hotel is very near the subway and bus stops. Almost all the sights are acessible from this Hotel

Met up with friends who have stayed at this hotel last year and had nothing but good words for Doulos I decided to also stay at the same hotel if not for the convenience to spend as much time together while we were visiting Seoul. Consider that this is a 3-star establishment, it met all my expectations and beyond, and I would gladly trade in all my usual stays at 4-star hotels for 3-star if they could offer the quality of services like Doulos. With an extremely helpful and friendly staff, very clean room, comfortable bedding, wifi, breakfasts, HD TV, small fridge in the room with bottles of water, and nice touches such as guest slippers, robes, disposable tooth-brush/razor, chocolate pieces in the fridge, there was really nothing more you could ask to have a comfortable stay. Granted that the room is small and the towels may not be thick and fluffy as pricier hotels may offer, I do believe Doulos is offering an exceptional service to its guests.

A few tips/points:
1) There is a wifi network on every floor with names like Doulos 7F, Doulos 6F, and so forth. For those mentioned the wifi signal is weak, make sure you are connecting to the network on your floor.
2) It's fairly easy to get from Incheon airport to the hotel. Though you may opt to take the A'rex express train to Seoul Station from the airport and transfer to Line 1 to get off at Jungno 3(sam)-ga, I've found it more convenient to take the commuter train from Incheon (53 minutes vs 43 minutes by express at 1/3 the price) to transfer at Gongdeok to Line 5 and get off at the same Jungno 3(sam)-ga station, therefore avoiding all the walking in the big Seoul Station especially if you have heavy luggage to tote.
3) It is NOT easy to find your way to the hotel from Jungno 3(sam)-ga station (take exit 15) especially if you arrive after dark, the alley way to the hotel is not easy to spot with all the bright lights from the shops on the streets, it is a TINY alley and even if you stand in front of it, you would hesitate to believe it would lead to the hotel. Do remember this, if you walk more than 20 seconds upon coming out of exit 15, you've missed the alley way.
