The hotel is located in a nondescript lane, though very close to Jongno gu (3) metro station (orange line). Given our luggage, we hired a taxi to get there and having the address written in Korean helped. The earlier reviews about the difficulty in locating the place otherwise holds good.

The rooms are small, but cosy and comfortable for solo travellers, with city view on all sides. It came with a writing table, luggage rack and few hangers, but no cupboard. My bathroom had a tub. The rooms were clean, non-smoking and the temperature maintained at comfortable levels. The internet connection in the room was poor.

The breakfast was included in the room tariff and the place has a decent spread for breakfast, including fruits, fruit juice, cereals, bread & eggs, sausages and croissants in addition to Korean fare. However, when I asked for some warm milk, I was told that it was not possible apparently because they did no have a microwave. But in a short while, she was willing to warm our coffee!! That is the first hotel that has refused me warm milk at breakfast. It appears that their microwave warm is lactose-intolerant!

The basement had a laundry room, which can be operated with Won 1500 each for washing and drying. The reception would give the change, if needed. I appreciated the laundry facility in the hotel given that I was travelling with too many soiled clothes and getting it dry cleaned was not feasible within the limited time we had on hand. The laundry room also had ironing facility.

The hotel is within walking distance from Insadong (7 minutes), Changdeokgung Palace (15minutes) and Bukchon Hanok village (25 minutes). It also has several branded shops, a park and a police station on the main street nearby. In the evenings, the street to the hotel is lined with food carts, selling cooked food. While we did not taste any, they did look appetising. The Airport Express has a stop outside Mc Donald's on Jongna gu main street. It plies every 15 minutes or so and takes 15000 Won and nearly an hour (in off-peak traffic) to get to Incheon International airport.

The staff at the hotel reception were by and large helpful. They understood English and tried to help us with our daily tourist plans in their broken English. However, they were very rigid regarding their check out policy. We had late evening flights out of the city, and one of us had over 20 hours of flight travel ahead of us. We would have liked to shower after a day out in the city and before boarding our flights. We requested a 2 hour extension of one room, between two of us, which was refused flatly.

In brief, I found the place convenient particularly for tourists- solo travellers and friends, not families. The services, except the internet connection, were good for its modest price of around USD 90. But the rigidity of policies, particularly with regard to check-out time, left a bad taste in our mouths in the last minutes of our stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with good internet connection.

We stayed for 8 nights at the Deluxe Double Room.
The Location
It is located behind the main arterial roads of Dongdaemun, and is not easy to find. My advice is to have the address written in Korean for the taxi driver. All taxis have GPS navigational aid. We caught the taxi from Seoul Station taxi queue, after arriving by train from the airport. It was very convenient, and only took less than ten minutes to get to the hotel. The cost was less than KRW10,000.
The Vicinity
The hotel is located behind some small lanes, and very near to Seoul Cinema. Within proximity of the hotel, you'll find food, shopping, street-food, and the Metro stations are all within five minutes walk, and it’s easy. You can’t get better than this! I enjoy walking along these little lanes. It was safe, even at 12 midnight.
The Room
It was a bit cramped, leaving not much room for the luggage. We were originally offered another similarly sized room that smelt of cigarette smoke, but we insisted on changing. The room was clean and cosy. All the usual amenities were provided.
The Air-conditioning.
The ducted air-conditioning was the nosiest of any hotel I have ever stayed at, and it didn’t seem to be adjustable. It was either ON for a sleepless night, or OFF for a warm and stuffy room.
The Breakfast.
Simple but delicious and sumptuous. Toast, fruits, cereals, bacon (or sausages), eggs (alternating between fried or scrambled on different days), fruit juices, some European pastries, salads (her favourite). The single female attendant was attentive, polite and always welcomes you with a bow if she sees you.
The Staff
The staffs at the reception were very courteous. They provided directions, helping with taxis, written instructions in Korean, etc. Spoken English is not a problem.
Conclusion
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel tremendously, although the air-conditioning system has room for improvement. Smoking should also be prohibited. All in all, this is a good hotel and worth the money.

Room Tip: State clearly that you want a NON-SMOKING room. This hotel has full occupancy most of the time, and don't expect to change your room at the last minute.

=> Read tips at the bottom of my review

+ : close to main touristic areas, quality/price is excellent, good english level, close to restaurants
- : small room, "hard" to find but easy with a map or instrution you can find in tripadvisor review
= will definitely go there again

I stayed 2 nights in a deluxe room for ~100 USD per night on agoda.com while other website (booking.com, hotel website, ...) were saying the hotel was fully booked!!

The hotel is close to many touristic area (15 min max by walk) and is close to a subway station (2 min) to go farer if necessary.

The room is clean and modern, it has a comfortable bed and make this hotel perfect to sleep in for a stay in Seoul. Maybe business pple will need more services which are good enough but not complete for demanding people.

TIP 1: read other review and watch pictures to easily find the hotel way to go from the airport shuttle bus stop. This is the way I did and did not lost myself at all
TIP 2: take subway or shuttle bus. It is about same time. Bus advantage is that you can see the city and does not need to carry your luggage (i think seoul subway have a lot of stairs (not mecanical)). Subway is maybe quicker during traffic peak
TIP 3: there is a big restaurant area where you will find all style of korean dish. To go there, turn left when going out from the hotel. Go straight and cross the big main street. It's there! not farer than 6 min walk

Room Tip: deluxe room is not so useful (just a bit bigger). It cost 10 USD more per night, so depend on your budget and how long you stay and your willingness of comfort

The location is a bit hard to find but very central. It is near exit 15 of jongno3 station or near the airport bus (6002)stop. For English speakers the 3 is pronounced as sam ( the Chinese pronunciation of the number 3) to avoid getting off at the wrong stop. Both of these modes of transport will drop you off to the right side of the road.

From there look for the pharmacy with a green cross on the top of the building and walk into the small alleyway, take the third right and as you come into an opening in the road look left for the hotel, it's about the third building on the left hand side.

The breakfast was decent with hot and cold buffets, and a mix of Korean and western foods. Level 2 also has facilities for water( hot/ cold) for free all day long if u need to refill bottles or want coffee/tea ( no kettle in room). There is bottled water daily, chocolates on arrival and cakes on departure which are all complimentary. There are also free postcards in the lobby, I found it hard to find one in Seoul (they sell them in packs only in the stores) . Wifi was fine ( try connecting to another levels if your one gives you a crap connection)

Location wise you can walk to the stream, Insadong, the Jongmyo shrine, Myeongdong and the palace Changdeokdoong. The palace and myeongdong are about 15 to 20 minute walk so take the subway if you are not interested in longer walks, the others are within 5 to 10 minutes.

The room was small, enough for two people but if you're just sleeping its fine. It was very clean. It's a great budget place! The reception desk are very polite, willing to help and speak English well enough.

The Doulos Hotel is a small hotel located near the Cheonggyecheon Stream. It's near the Jongno 3-ga subway station exit 15 which makes it a great location to get to the major sites and areas in Seoul. I stayed here for 4 nights in late October. It reminds me of the business small business hotels that you find all over Japan (Dormy Inn, Hotel B, etc) which provides excellent value for the money especially when staying in a major city such as Seoul.
The rooms are small but works for a solo traveler like me. The room was very clean stylish, compact, but efficient. The bed is very comfortable and the linens are very nice. Free internet, bottled water in your room and breakfast in the morning was nice to have. The staff is very courteous and professional. The location in the midst of these small alleys may put off some travelers but they are very safe even for me being a solo female traveler. But, then again I am used small streets and neighborhoods like these having traveled through many Asian cities. It's just a normal working neighborhood with small mom and pop shops, restaurants and yes there are some love motels around which the Doulos is not by the way. I felt very safe walking back at night.
Now, finding your way to the hotel may be a little confusing but you figure it out pretty quickly. I arrived by taxi the first night. I have uploaded some photos on how to get to the hotel from the Jongno 3-ga station exit 15. Look for the 약 (Pharmacy) sign as soon as you get out from the station. Then keep going down the alley, it may look narrow but keep going there are some grilled eel/fish restaurants to your right that you will pass. Keep walking past the little side alleys on each side until you hit a big Y in the road (big enough for a car to drive down), take a right and the Doulos Hotel will be on the left.
The only peeve, I have is that they did call my room on the last day to remind me that check out was at 11 am. It was 10:15 am but they do hold your luggage for you if you have a later flight that day. Overall, it's a good business hotel for the location and value for the money.
