There are so many great reviews that I need not go to deep into what is great. Here is a brief list of what I really liked:
Big beautiful rooms, well designed and modern
Beautiful bathroom and great shower and tub with full city views
AC, lighting, plugs and fridge with room for my stuff all worked great
Friendly staff and great housekeeping. Super clean all the way round.
Views. On the 20th floor overlooking CBD (Coex) beyond amazingly great
Great check in, friendly and helpful. Really well trained and super friendly
Elevators are weird and confusing to go down to go up, but they are fast and clean
Here is what you need to be AWARE of bigtime:
Noise. Noise and more Noise.
Traffic in this monster intersection is in bed with you. The motorcycles are super loud. The police whistles and the traffic are endless and there is no sound proofing. Earplugs did not work. Loud music did not work. Sleeping pills helped, but not perfect for an entire night.
Construction or pounding: at 4:30am every morning a “steel” like pounding awoke me and never stopped. At first I thought it was construction, but it happened every day.
Ice: I ordered ice (no machines) but it rarely gets delivered without two calls. I went down to lounge and they gladly filled the bucket for me. Americans like ice, lots of ice. They are not excited about getting the guest ice. (Employees turned down tips too, they are not expected for the most part)
Pool: not a nice pool for sitting, Hard chairs very super uncomfortable, unfriendly attendant. Pool is a lap pool. Super clean but when I was in there a Mainlander (enough on that) was in there and spit several times in the pool and was clearing his nose and more; so gross I just got out and left.
More about what I liked:
Starbucks is in several locations next to this hotel. So enjoy coffee and breakfast for a few bucks, get great internet and people watching is good. The mall is across the street and the MRT/subway is just awesome and right at the front door. My favorite is to get a ticket for three stops at Gangnam (8 minutes) Exit 9 or 10 (huge SBUX there too) but walk the Gangnam streets for endless eats and action. What a great place. All so close. The service at the hotel is excellent, the great taxi to the bus for airport is appreciated and overall just a great visit. The noise problem is the entire side of the hotel, it is real, it is super disturbing and the rooms on the other side ( they could only give me floor 6) look over a parking lot and very depressing compared to what I had (so I kept my 20th floor room and just did not sleep so well). Meanwhile, a high room on the other side may be pretty good and quiet. This is a BIG issue at this wonderful place.
