Situated in the quiet side of the bustling streets of Myeongdong. The hotel is around 3 minute walk from exit 7 (if you want an escalator) or exit 8 (STAIRS) of Myeongdong station, just behind the L7 hotel. It is also near the airport bus stop if you wish to use the airport limousine bus to and fro.. The issues we had during our stay were the following:

1) Initially we were given a room that smells like cigarette smoke, (the hotel saying that they are a “smoke-free hotel” and we also told them in the email days before that we had asthma) but in fairness to them, that was quickly resolved as the receptionist apologized and changed our room immediately.
2) The only elevator (yes, there is only one elevator in this 8-floor building) broke down during one time so we went down using the fire exit. There was also a incidence of leaking when the aircon of the elevator was on during our first day.
3) There’s only one washer and dryer in the hotel. (first come, first serve) Korean characters in the machine but with english and chinese translation posted on top of it. laundry baskets are also available for use (only 2) with instructions on how to use the machines.
4) Room is a bit worn out and we could see scratches or damages in the wallpaper as well as the leather head board near our bed and the chipped portion of the sink. There was also a round chair in the room near the small table which needs cleaning also.
5) WiFi sometimes slows down during the late night and early morning hours. But signal quality is very good since it reaches the laundrymat at basement 1.
6) The rooms are not completely soundproof as we could here people coming in to their rooms.
7) No “majestic views” from our room.
8) Late check out request was not allowed even if we are willing to pay.
9) No water refill machine available.

But the good news were:

1) Standard double room is big enough for 2 people with 2 luggages and 2 hand carry baggages. (You can look at the pictures already given here in trip advisor since it looks accurately the same) There is a small walk-in closet to store the luggages and a overhead compartment to store your other belongings. Overall, the room is quite clean even if some parts of the room has carpet flooring. This did not trigger our asthma at all. A safe is also available in the said walk in closet for your valuables. Laundry bag is also available for free in the room as well as the laundrymat. There was also an electric kettle with free coffee and tea, with glasses, cups and teaspoons. Flat screen tv with some english channels, is also available.
2) The restroom was clean amidst the chipped portion of the sink, there were also complete amenities given such as towels, slippers, shampoo, toothbrushes and hair dryer. Water pressure was also strong (we stayed in the 6th floor). Bidet is incorporated to the toilet bowl and works fine with temperature control and even a drier/blower function.
3) Centralized Air-con works fine but is above the bed area in the standard double room. The bed is comfortable and they offer different types of pillows. (as advertised)
4) Convenience store (GS25) is in front of the hotel (there is also a small 711 nearby) open 24 hours. But the hotel also provides 2 bottles of 500ml water everyday.
5) Courteous and kind staff who are always willing to answer questions and inquiries.
6) Multiple things that could be borrowed or rented such as adaptors and even first aid kits (see photo for the list)
7) Several restaurants (K-bbq and bibimbap) were just nearby as well and some are open til early morning.
8) The hotel is quiet during night time and early in the morning (but again not totally soundproof)
9) 2 key cards were given to us with the wifi password.
10) Weighing scale is available for luggages as well as free luggage storage for guests.
11) Clean restrooms were also available in the lobby area.
12) Ice is available in the laundrymat area, as well as a vending machine for the detergent, feminine napkins and razors if ever you need it (see photos).

We were not able to try their breakfast buffet but it is available. they also have a free treat for guests during friday..

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Would still recommend this hotel amidst the said issues, which hopefully will be resolved soon..

Stayed at Grand Hotel, Myeongdong in July. This is the rainy season. Skies are cloudy but no thunderstorms, mostly showers. This hotel has easy access to Seoul Subway, and is steps away from shops, restaurants and street vendors. Twin room is pretty standard, spacious enough and more like 3 - 4 star.
All the reception staff are fluent in English, and are helpful and friendly. Clearly well trained. In particular, I like to commend Mr K M Lee who was very cheerful and pleasant, and always happy to offer assistance and advice.
There are a few Grand Hotels in Seoul. If you come by taxi, do take pains to inform the cab driver the hotel address in Korean. I was initially despatched to a Grand Hotel in Namdaemun.
