I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to travellers who wants to shop and try different restaurants.... very convenient for families that has kids, because the hotel is connected to the malls and restaurants, no need to cross the road... at the same time it is connected to the City Airport check in... so you can already check in your luggages, and there is airport limousine bus to bring you to the airport but with a fee. Hotel rooms are big... big space to move around....

This is just a review of one of the restraurants at this hotel, 'C Grill'.
Shortly I can say to you guys, Never dine here.
Reason 1 for this, bad mannered waitress. Never smiled to guests even on Christmas eve!!! and just threw napkins on guests' knee. Who asked to spread it on my knee?
Reason 2, I ordered a bottle of wine, my favourite one, Marques de Caceres Reserva 2001. It took more than 20 mins for me to drink it on my table after my order.
I saw the wine on the list and told to one of staff there. Just after first 10 mins, he came to me with different French wine. Come on...Marques de Caseres is Spanish! It means, staff working there don't know which types of wines they sell and serve to guests.
Come on... this is five star hotel restaurant.
It was so disappointing Chirstmas dining for my family. What a shame.
If you stay at this hotel, I can say go straight to do so cause guest room of this hotel is so nice. However if you think about dine at C Grill restaurant, I would say, No, please dont do that.
But steaks here were quite yummy.

Excellent hotel. Its not that new but really done well from the inside.

The location is right on top of COEX shopping mall. COEX contains literally hundreds of shops and restaurants from low range prices to mid range and a large cinema ( only shows 1 English movie at a time and most Korean movies do not have English subtitles).
It is also besides Hyundai Department Store that has all the high end brands like LV, Gucci, Bottega, Ferragamo, Rolex and so on.
Behind the hotel is a little network of by streets and alleys that are full of bars and restaurants, but the majority are Korean designated.
While the location is nice, its pretty far from Myeongdong, Naemdaemun and Itaewon for example as it is located in the more modern part of Seoul city (south of the Han river). It takes about 20 minutes to 45 minutes to get to the above mentioned areas by taxi. You can easily take the metro but my friend and I opted for the taxi 95% of the time as the metro gets super full.
A 10 minute taxi journey takes you to Apgujeong (or Rodeo Street, reference to Rodeo Drive USA) which is another network of restaurants and bars that cater to both foreigners and Koreans. There is also a half kilometer stretch of street that has all the high end brand boutiques.

The hotel is posh and that is evident from the clientelle walking in and out and from the cars parked in the vallet bay.
The rooms are cozy, interior is nice. Exactly what you would expect from an Intercontinental brand hotel.
Restaurants in the hotel are nice. There is a cigar lounge too and live music in the main caffe area every day.
Room service is also good. We ordered burgers and pizza and were satisfied.

The only negative was that the AC did not cool beyond 24 C. I guess they topped it out at a max cold of 24 C. They did bring us a fan which kind of worked.
Staff are friendly.
Plenty of taxis around, metro is a 2 minute walk.

We stayed here for the first part of our journey and then stayed at The Westin Chosun located near myeongdong which is a better location in my opinion. More happening and bigger selection of everything (restaurants, shopping malls, shops, walks).

We found ourselves in Seoul unexpectedly at a time when the city’s hotels were at capacity, and struggled to find an adequate mid-range hotel. We ultimately splurged on the Grand Intercontinental, and while it was an OK place to stay, it felt overpriced for what was on offer. The room was somewhat dated, and the bathroom quite basic for the star rating. Nothing bad, but nothing great. We wound up splashing out even more on the Park Hyatt across the street the following night, and LOVED that.

Pros:
- Airport bus drops off right at the hotel after just a few stops, making it easy to avoid a pricey taxi
- Good metro access on the corner
- Concierge staff were very helpful

Cons:
- Property (particularly the room) didn’t live up to its price tag

Tips:
- The food court in the adjacent COEX mall complex is a great way to try a bunch of Korean dishes – and unlike American food courts the food is tasty, authentic and cheap. We had the best dae ji bulgogi (red spicy pork) of our lives there, and a mighty fierce bibimbap. Free wifi there, too.

I stayed in this hotel about 4 times a year in the past because of the location which is closed in office. The room is of good size and clean. The front desk service is depending on who you get on the day. Some are friendly and helpful and some just not live up to 5 stars standard. The restaurant service on a whole is very good but the food in the hotel is ordinary except for Table 34 which is a pricy restaurant. It is cheaper and better to eat in the restaurants in the shopping center. Remember to bring your own hair conditioner as it is not provided by the hotel. I was told it is Korean regulation that the hotel is not allowed to provide for the guess. The in room sleepers provided have sometimes been used by the previous guess. I found this practice since mid 2008. I do not it is a very hygienic practice.

The Grand InterContinental Seoul is centrally located and a great option for business travellers to Seoul's business district. It is connected to a wonderfl shoppng mall and within walking distance to the Covention and Exhibition Center. Very attentive staff, a wonderful breakfast buffet. Fast and efficient check-in. Spacious rooms. Will stay again on my next trip to Seoul
