“Excellent home from home in Seoul”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

I stayed here for a week with 2 friends to visit Seoul. Staff here had excellent English and were incredibly helpful. The room was warm, comfortable and had plenty of space for the three of us.
The location is also great for shopping, eating, sightseeing, getting the metro etc.
The gym and pool were also well kept and good quality. We had a great time here.
Minor negatives are that you had to pay extra ($40 for the week) for wifi, which really irritates me when you're staying at expensive hotels and also although it's a serviced apartment it would have been nice to find some bottles of water or tea bags as a welcome basket on arrival. There is a 7/11 over the road but as we arrived late at night it would have been a nice touch to have this little extra in the room. Tiny details though, it was an excellent base in Seoul.

We checked in last evening (January 31st, 2014) for five nights. As Chappy C noted in a previous review, the service at this property is lacking. When we pulled into the front entryway of the property, there were four people standing at the front desk and no customers in sight. However, no one came to help us with our luggage until I went inside and asked specifically for luggage help. During the check-in process, we had a mixed encounter -- there was a young man who was polite and helpful, but when we asked for twin beds in our 1-bedroom suite (or a possible upgrade if that was unavailable) a lady (probably senior to him in the staff level) came and told us rudely that the reason she couldn't accommodate us was because I had left out an "s" in my request e-mail sent to them 2 days prior. She said that even though she had upgrade rooms available she couldn't give them to us and that we would have to pay USD $77 extra per night for an extra rolling bed to be installed. Fair enough, but it was her rude manners and haughty attitude that surprised me, especially in Asia where the hospitality service standard is very high.

In the bedroom, I was disappointed to find some stray curly brown hairs (see attached photo) on the pillows. By that time in the evening after checkin in, it was late at night so we simply plucked off the hairs and went to bed.

Lack of service aside, the apartment is extremely well equipped (hairdryer, everything you can imagine in the kitchen including rice cooker, toaster, etc., a steam vaporizer to combat dryness, etc.) The location of Insadong is also convenient and there's a lot to explore around the area. There's a 7-11 right across the street as well as a Coffee Bean for easy breakfast options.

Today is only our first day in Seoul, but at least these were my first impressions.

It conveniently lacated in Insadong area. The building itself is rather new, nice , and clean. The service, however, is rather poor, especially the housekeeping part. You don't get your daily cleaning and bed making during weekends. If you happen to stay during the holiday season like me, then there will be no cleaning through x'mas and new year for almost 5 days straight. They could have arranged a better service considering the price we paid was not cheap. After all, you are in a service industry. National holidays should not be an issue.

The rooms are however spacious clean. The amenities and facilities are great, anything you expect to have in a serviced apartment is all there. There are coffee shop and great korean restaurant on the first floor within the building. It is very convenient. Internet is USD 40 / day. Expensive! And it's not that fast.

Room Tip: the room that ends 03 is more spacious and you have a little den as your study corner, very private...

My family stayed here for about a week and enjoyed the stay. This could be characterized as a serviced apartment. We had a two-bedroom unit, which was very comfortable and perfect given that we had kids and other relatives. The location is perfect if you want to explore Insadong, which is literally just around the corner. We never tried out the food options at the hotel because there are so many good food choices in Insadong. There are nice rice cake stands just outside the hotel, which are worth trying as well. If you want to do a little bit of cooking, have a family so would like to have the extra space, and know enough Korean to go to the local restaurants in the area, this place is perfect. As we have seen other parts of Seoul before and were focused on exploring Insadong, I don't know how convenient this is to other tourist spots in Seoul. We thought this was great value for what we wanted. There is a small playroom for kids. Not elaborate at all but enough for a 5 year old to spend an hour or so.

The first time I stayed in Fraser Suites Insadong was during a diplomatic training visit to our Embassy in Hannam-dong. I like their personal attention towards all guest, their housekeeping team did a good job in keeping everything tidy and in order. The golf driving range facility at the hotel rooftop is an extra bonus

I have stayed numerous times at Frasers since 2005 and it is deteriorating.

On our most recent stay we booked a 2 bedroom apartment for 3 persons for 5 nights. On arrival they only provided 2 bathrobes and 2 pairs of slippers. No toiletries were provided in the second bathroom. Toiletries were never replenished.

After the third night, housekeeping did not even bother to make the beds.

Furniture and fittings very outdated.

Internet which was previously free is now chargeable. Even the budget hotels are now providing free wifi/Internet.

Room temperature impossible to control.

This is a nice corporate apartment complex. The Staff are friendly and very helpful. There is a nice breakfast daily and the menu items rotate each day of the week. INSADONG is great to walk around and enjoy the shopping.

Room Tip: The apartment was nice, but on the higher floors you will hear less street noise.
