I stayed before when it was Sofitel, so it used to be superior hotel with many goodies. Now, it is changed to associated with Pullman but metro sign still written as Sofitel.

Svc was very good where porter, particularly the one on aug 20 morning. Counter staff was great where checking in n out were done in trice.

Of course, rooms was not new though well maintained but toilet was smelly.

Btw, if you r in a hurry to airport, try taxi to seoul station n take Arex which is indeed faster than bus, only 43 min for train, but more or less the same price as airport bus as Arex is charging only 8000won now. So, it worth a try instead of just airport bus mentioned by others where there will be lesser chance for traffice jam.

We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Grand Ambassador.
It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback and also pointing out what we were missing.

As we focus and invest on service training and mind control regular basis I see more guest visit this hotel feel comfortable than in fancy new hotel with no good service minded. Instead of shutting hotel down for renovation for a long time, we do renovate one by one to get in touch with all our valued guest who love this property.

But I am sorry for the smell in the bathroom. Maintaining the facility is as important as the staff service. I have talked with housekeeping and engineering department to find out why and how to avoid the smell in the room.

Also we will inform the AREX airport railway starts from Seoul station as we inform the KAL limousine bus. In some cases we are not able to assume the time it takes from hotel to Seoul station with taxi even though it cost almost same as bus (7,000 to 8,000 KWN taxi + 8,000 KWN train ticket)

Once again, I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one.

Sincerely,

Stayed at a standard twin room for 4 nights.
Pros:
1.Very comfortable beds
2. Room view overlooks Namsan Seoul Tower
3. Professional English-speaking staff
4. Hotel provides shuttle bus that goes to tourist hotspots Myeongdong, Insadong, Itaewon.
5. Airport limousine bus drops off and picks up right at the entrance of hotel

Cons:
1. Hotel needs refurbishing. The carpeting in rooms are old and the bathtub/shower curtains certainly need replacement. They re yellowish, stained and worn out.
2. No electrical water boiler (for drinking) in rooms.
3. No free wifi/LAN in rooms.

We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Grand Ambassador. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback and also great opportunity for some suggestion.

As you have mentioned that this hotel can be reached very easily by airport limousine bus which stops right at the hotel. When you enter the room, the Ambassador bed is very comfortable because we put special over mattress over 5 Cm depth made of geese feather and down. It is so soft and comfortable. Every room has electric kettle for boiling water and 'Nespresso' coffee machine for espresso coffee. And we do have a view toward to N-Seoul Tower and DongDaeMoon Night Market. They have very unique scenery. They are very beautiful during day and night. For the better service every single staff need to pass English test for good communication and some even pass Japanese and Chines test as well. So we do care for not just Korean but also guest from all over the world. And also we do provide free shuttle bus for downtown shopping. Myeongdong, Insadong, ITaeWon, DongDaeMoon markets are all stops for that shuttle bus. One more thing, you may have free internet access when you have our hotel membership include Le Club, Advantage Plus, and Ambatel point. Especially the Ambatel point card can be enrolled at the reception for free of charge.

I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one.

We had the cheapest room level with a king size bed on a non-smoking floor in late July.

Things the room had:
- A variety of electricity options with 2 outlets of 3 different types and 2 different voltages.
- A minibar/fridge
- Complementary water bottles (replaced daily)
- a welcome platter of fruit
- Complementary coffee thing (2 per day I think, we didn't use it)
- Paid wifi access equalling about $18 a day.
- Ethernet port for wired Internet (also about $18 a day).

The executive rooms I believe include Internet access.
Contrary to what I read online, the hotel does NOT have a self coin laundry. I ended up having to use the laundry service which was fairly expensive in addition to washing some shirts in the sink. They did comp me the fee to wash one of my boxers though, since we were a "long stay" customer. My bill for a handful of boxers, 2 pairs of shirts, and a bra was about $45.

The food in the hotel is very good, and also expensive. There appears to be the Hotel Lobby Lounge and Deli, Cafe de Chef, and the Kings Buffet. There's also a bar with happy hour (Mon-Sat) called Gran A. Expect to average around $25 a person at the deli. Cafe de Chef starts at around $30 a person and shoots up to $80 while the Kings Buffet is right around $70 a person.

While delicious, the King Buffet doesn't have a huge selection of foods to eat. Also I'd expect to pay right around $30 to $40 in the US for that type of buffet.

Our first night arriving, we stumbled in to Cafe de Chef and ordered some dinner. It took a good 20 minutes for one plate to arrive. My gf refused to eat her food until I got mine. After about another 20 minutes the waiter came over and apologized. It seems the kitchen didn't see the other order. They brought over a salad for me to eat. After we had finished with our food and asked for the check, they brought some apology ice cream. It was all very nice , but I was getting fairly grumpy by that point. After a 14 hour flight we were exhausted and didn't have a great experience at Cafe de Chef. They did do what they could except comping the meal. If we weren't half asleep, we might have noticed that we didn't eat for about an hour after ordering.

The location of the hotel is great. There's a short walk to the subway 3 (orange) line, both exits 1 and 6. I recommend exit 6, especially during the week as there's a escalator that goes up the hill to make your return trips at the end of an exhausting sight seeing day easier. There's also 4 convenience stores (I recommend "With Me" which is run by an adorable older couple instead of the GS25, 7 Eleven, or CVS).

The hotel also has a variety of shuttle busses that run to some of the tourist locations but we just used the subway instead.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking since there don't appear to be a lot of them.

We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Grand Ambassador.
All the information you have written are very precise and very good for the guest who decide to visit this hotel.

All kind of facility in the room for the guest, but the chargable internet connection include WIFI if you don't have any kind of hotel membership. (Le Club - free, Ambatel Point - free, Advanced Plus - fee with room voucher and other coupons).
There are King's Buffet with 260 kinds of food that you can enjoy, Cafe de Chef with Steak and Pasta also Korean Menu, Lobby lounge and Deli with Fresh Juice, Coffee, Cake and Sandwich, and Bar with happy hour include unlimited beer and house wine and snacks. Also live music with pop songs and K pop after the happy hour.
The location of the hotel is in the middle of Myeong-Dong, DongDaeMoon Market and ITaeWon where a lot of foreigners like to visit while we do provide free shuttle bus for those three places almost every hour. Also there are many local restaurant near by the hotel, so you can have different dishes almost every day in and outside the hotel.

It is always a pleasure to receive positive and negative feedback since your comments will serve as an encouragement and a whip to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. I will share your comments with our team.

We stayed at this hotel from July 8-13 2013. The KAL limosine bus from Incheon Airport takes you directly to the hotel. Takes a good hour because the bus makes multiple stops at other hotels. Once we got to our hotel we where friendly greeted by every staff member that walked by. Check in was smooth. Our room was on the 8th floor facing the front. It was very clean and comfortable. We where very pleased. The buffet breakfast is hightly recommended and has very good options for all taste. Theres free wifi only in the lobby. You can get wifi in your room but you have to pay. A good trick is to connect to the wifi in the lobby and it will stay connected if you go up to your room. We where on the 8th floor and the wifi stayed connected. The hotel has a free shuttle service to the popular shopping districts. They drop you off and pick you up. I highly recommend this hotel. The atmosphere was very professional and business like. I would stay here again if i visit korea again. Thanks to the great staff and all the smiles.

We stayed here for about a week during our holiday in South Korea, with a trip to Busan in between.

Rooms - During the first stay we were given a superior room while we were upgraded to a deluxe or executive room on our return from busan. The latter was much better with a more modern feel. Beds were comfortable nevertheless for both rooms. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch, but limiting to 2 capsules per day for guests while putting 6 capsules there seems a bit petty.

Getting to hotel - The hotel is at the last stop on the kal limousine bus from the airport and first stop if going back to airport, 15000 won per trip. We use this but the journey to airport takes a longer time somehow due to weekend traffic so one should cater more time.

Location - Hotel is located near the Dongguk University subway station. We make use of the subway station quite a bit to move around. One can easily buy or top up the subway stored value card from the gs25 convenience store on the way to the station. Hotel also has shuttle service to Myeongdong shopping district which we used once. We also took the taxis a few times especially after a day of shopping and to seoul train station going to busan. Taxi rides take about 20 min and fares are reasonable.

Nearby amenities - There are convenience stores like 7-11 nearby where one can buy some snacks or drinks. As breakfast was not included in our rate, we tried the little cafes and bakeries near the subway station like coffine gurunaru cafe, paris baguette and tous les jours. These bakeries seem very popular in korea. There is also a traditional bakery shop (next to cvs store) to buy some korean snacks as gifts.

Service - Rooms were cleaned daily but there was 1 day when water bottles were not replenished. We also left some of our luggage with the concierge during the trip to busan. We did not tried the hotel restaurants so cannot comment on them.

Overall a great place to stay if one wants to be close to shopping districts but need a quiet sleep at night.
