Just back from a 2 week holiday in South Korea, 9 nights in the Ibis. It's a very good hotel with really good staff who all spoke good english. The room was smallish but adequate and had everything we needed, it was really clean and the bed comfortable.
My fault was in not checking my booking as we wanted the Ibis Meongdong not Gangnam Gu. This meant we were at least 1/2 hour each way to the centre of action etc. but that said Gangnam Gu was a very clean and vibrant part of the city. We had our window open at night and there was noisy life going on all night...how do they do it??
Nice Paris Baguette 30 yds up the street for breakfast and loads of restaurants nearby. Hotel bar has a buy one get one free on draught lager and house wine so if you venture there make sure you have 2 drinks each!

Rooms are a little dark, and not large, TV signal was poor. Not recommended if you plan on spending a great deal of time in your hotel. However, if you want somewhere that is clean, with a good location and excellent airport services, then this is a good choice. The rooms are very dark at night, so you get a great night's sleep, and there are plenty of food options nearby, including one excellent Korean restaurant below a bar called 'Jack's'. Also, the hotel has a shuttle bus to the airport bus terminal, where you can check your bags in and get a bus to either Incheon of Gimpo airport.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Ibis Seoul Hotel. Some of the reviews were very accurate and after the fact I realized that it was even featured in the Lonely Planet Seoul, hotel portion. It's 10 minutes away from the Coex Mall and the closest subway stop Samseong, it's extremly easy to manuever around, they have computers for the guests to use and a wonderful buffet area during lunch and dinner in the hotel's restaurant and the food was a wide array of items in which to choose from. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The one helpful hint that someone else had posted is quite true, when one turns left from the hotel entrance, your met by different places to eat or pick up coffee and pastry, not to mention there are two 7-eleven stores and a small mini mart just down the other side of the road. A very nice stay for three nights.

The room was fairly small but for someone who get out of the hotel @ 8am and go back to hotel at 9pm after work...it is good enough with the nice pleasant clean room and view. It is just a walking distance to COEX Mall which I can only go over weekends. As I usually return late, the food place (I think) along the hotel strip are mostly closed, thankfully there is this 24Hrs convenient store that is 5 minutes walk on the right side of the hotel exit, ideal for me to grab a bowl of kimchi instant noodle, a bag of chips and beer on my way back from work. It's great that the hotel offer free shuttle to CALT Center where you can take the Airport Shuttle Service from here, really ideal for someone who only knows how to say "kam-sum-hamida"... :)

Room Tip: To travel between the airport and where you stay, try not to take Taxi as it can be very expansive...

Went to Seoul on a sightseeing trip for a few days, I was unable to find a decent hotel in central Seoul. The Ibis Hotel in Myongdong was sold out and the only hotel options left for me were high end hotels at $350+ per night or cheap hostels, neither of which were options.

I decided to stay at the Ibis Hotel in Gangman for the price even though it was further away from the sights. For those not familiar with the Greater Seoul area Gangman is a business district located southwest of central Seoul and south of the Han River. It is within walking distance of the Coex Mall and the City Air Terminal. The hotel is about a 10min walk to two subway stations along Metro line #2, from there it's another 20mins to Central Seoul. Beware that that the metro stops running after midnight but taxi's in Seoul are plentiful and cheap, it cost me about $12 to get back from Myongdong.

I had no problem communicating with the staff, their english was sufficient at answering my questions. My room was a double one bed which was clean and comfortable, I'd describe it as utilitarian. It is small by western standards but I've come to expect this when traveling through parts of Asia. My only complaint with the room was the lack of a clock, made it a bit difficult when I would wake up and had to squint at my watch.

The hotel has a restaurant, gym and sauna. I didn't use the restaurant, I usually avoid hotel restaurants when traveling and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. I'd usually hit the Paris Bakery down the street for some bread for breakfast. The spa cost only 5,000won (about $5) for hotel guest, I used it one night to relax after a long day of walking. it's open 24hrs.

All in all I had a pleasant stay here but if I had to do it again I'd prefer to stay closer to Seoul.

Hint: When exiting the hotel go left on that small street, there are many little cool bars and restaurants as well as a grocery store. I didn't discover this until my last night, would have been fun had I known about this earlier.

Good location, nice clean room. Staff were friendly, breakfast choice was good. What you'd expect of an IBIS - standard hotel but in a good location.
