Easy to use, just purchase a travel card that you can top up at a local corner store or 7/11 and your off.

Signs everywhere, so you can't really get lost!

It is my first time here and I have to tell that it is the best way to get around. Cheap and very clean. There are many signs in English.

Buy one T money card inside small stores or at the subway and charge it with money. You can charge it either at some stores or on machines which stay inside the subway (choose your language). You can use the same card to ride buses as well. The system always shows you how much credit you have in the card.

Extra tips:

1) If you are like me, love apps and safety, I recommend that you download an app of the lines... it will help you a lot, because there are many of them;

2) buy a pre-paid card and enjoy the wi-fi inside the subway. 'Olleh' is the name of one of the three cel companies. The sign at the store is white written in red. Easy to see among so many Korean 'letters';

3) Last thing: always remember to touch the card when you leave the station or the bus, otherwise they will charge you an extra fee, like 500 won (no big deal, like 0.50 USD).

Good travel!

The Metro is very easy to navigate. Get the Seoul Metro app and it is even easier. The subway is on time, clean and fast. Signs are in English and directions are clear. This is a great way to get around Seoul.

Took the metro everyday during my stay in Seoul.

What I liked about the metro : The train was clean in general, loved how they had announcements in 4 languages, wasn't crowded during non-peak hours (in my country, trains are packed almost to the brim even during non-peak hours), passengers were allowed to eat and drink in the train, separate section of seats just for the elderly, pregnant, injured and disabled, travelling at a high speed overall and travel time was quite short, many stations that were interchanges too which was convenient for line-switching, great frequency of trains during morning rush hour, panel screen which shows how far is the next train from my station, little jingle announcing the arrival of the train which was sort of catchy.

What I didn't like about the metro : The doors opened on different sides every station (almost), it was kind of irritating since I'm always used to standing beside the door, long walks in stations changing from one line to another, train frequencies that can differ greatly from line to line, sometimes confusing and misleading signs in the station.

Seoul's Metro is a very efficient sytem with regular trains, about 2 minutes between stations and a clean safe environment. For non-Koreans the best advice is to just follow the station numbering, work out which numbered station you want to get off and check out the exit number at that station. Stations are big and by knowing your exit number you end up in the street that is most convenient for you.
