“Business stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

This hotel is ideal for business travellers as it is located in the centre of the business district, which means a long way from the city. The rooms are tiny, very clean and equipped with computers. It was hard to find space for 2 suitcases. Mattresses are extremely hard. The staff is friendly, however their knowledge of the english language is very limited. A basic buffet breakfast is provided. The hotel is located close to the subway but a long way from tourist attractions.

Stayed from 4 nights 2 May-6May.

My choice of hotel near Myeondong has no room during these days, so decided to pick Nox since the rate within my budget and with positive feedback from fellow T.A. member.

Hotel is well maintain, we were first given room 701, the door would not open, TV don’t work properly, room were a light dark. So we ask to change to another room. We will then given room 603, this room lighting were better than 701. Big LCD TV , a PC with wifi , big bathroom, but the lighting not bright enough so you don’t feel like staying in the bathroom for too long.

TV and Air con remotes control text were all in Korean, you need to memorize how to use them when the staff explain to you.

Simple breakfast: bread, boiled eggs, banana, corn flakes, orange juices, coffee and tea. Good points toast bread, tea, coffee and hot/cold water is available 24 hours at the reception areas. Staffs were friendly and helpful.

Hotel is not on the main road, it’s in dark alley , a 5mins walk from airport bus lighting point Renaissance Hotel. After alighting from bus walk towards left look out for Starbuck Café, turn right before the café, another 100 m away there’s 7-11 store Nox hotel is on the uphill from the store.

This area is a business district, although subway is less then 10 mins walk , it still little inconvenient to travel to places of interest, need to travel almost 45 mins one way.

The Nox is on a small side street surrounded by many other small hotels and in an area full of bars and small restaurants, near some of the business area main streets. According to my local source, these hotels are often used by "illegitimate partners" for "short time stay". This is supported by the facts that there is very little materiel in English, for example don't expect an english tourist map at the reception.

However, at least while I were here, there was no untoward activity at the hotel, no noice, nor any guest that I would deem inappropriate. The hotel is very clean, and the renovation quite recent. There were a lot of care products in the rooms, including toothbrushes, toothpaste and shaving foam. There was a bathtub in the room, as well as "rain shower" but no shower curtain. The towels were smallish, and smelled slightly of chlorine, but were definitely clean and changed every day.

There were two PC's in the room with Korean/Western combination keyboards. Free wifi and connector for Ipad/Iphone, easily located sockets for loading your own gear. Huge television with a lot of channels, as well as free films (Korean, including adult titles) on the PC. All the electronics in the room were interconnected and had two very complicated remotes, with the text only in korean. If you are not comfortable with technology, and able to memorize half a dozen buttons, this might not be the place for you.

There was free "minibar" in the room, and at least the water was replenished freely. Water cookers in the rooms, and a coffee machine in the lobby. A simple but ok breakfast was included.

The staff was very friendly, and for example shoved the way to the metro station by taking me to the street corner and pointing signs. They seemed to be a little surprised for me wanting a receipt, or coming for breakfast at 6 a clock, or asking directions for walking around.

All in all, a nice little hotel, definitely a positive experience, and very good value for money. Also, if you need a discreet hideaway in Seoul, this might be an excellent choice. The parking is also indoors and out of sight, if you happen to have a car.

Great points: free wifi, free breakfast, very big TV connected to the computer, free movies

Hotel is accessible, around 2 blocks from Yeoksam station (a few minutes walk), and a block from Renaissance Hotel where the Kallimousine Airport Bus 6703 has a stop. You can ride this to/fro Incheon Airport. Hotel is not on the main road itself though, it's in one of the side streets parallel to the main road, very near Renaissance Hotel if you know where to look. There are restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The area is mostly offices, there's a Catholic church nearby too. Not near the usual touristy areas like Myeongdong, but very near the subway so everything's accessible.

Bathrooms are big, and there's a jacuzzi, warm toilet seats, strong water pressure for the rainwater shower head. Rooms are clean, beds look clean and we slept well. Rooms are soundproofed, as the bellboy who assisted us explained. Free breakfast consists of cereal, bread, coffee, orange juice, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled egg, with everything served in disposable containers. Lobby is at the 2nd floor, this is also where breakfast is served. It's a bit small but is sufficient. Hallways are a bit narrow, there's only one elevator. However, room facilities are top-notch, and I'd stay here again if we return. Hotel personnel are helpful.

Restaurant Tip: There's a very good 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant nearby. Try to eat here and wash it all down with soju!

A hotel that uses the high tech and design aspect as a selling point. However, all this technology is confusing to operate. Lights, airco, TV, computer... Nice, but not handy for the average person.

During our stay, we were on the 11th floor and a group of (young) people booked a room on the 12th for a party. Incredibly noisy, sounded like they were thrashing the place. First call to the reception didn't make a difference.
Second call also no diff.

Advise: try somewhere else.

Stayed for 4 nights here in early April. As we took a night flight, we took the airport limousine that dropped at Yeoksam station instead of Hotel Renaissance. Was a feat looking for the hotel, however a helpful shopkeeper called the hotel and the staff came to receive us at the station.

For those who may need help in direction, get out from exit 8 of Yeoksam station, walk straight past angel-in-us cafe, keep walking till you reach a building construction with hoarding (before cross junction), take a left turn, you'll see a jap restaurant. Take the 2nd left turn into the small alley.

The room is a tad small but the amenities is great, jacuzzi bath, free mini bar, wifi, pc, etc. there's no lack of food as there's a few restaurants nearby.

The service from the staff is commendable, where they are most willing to receive u from the station & try even bring us to take a taxi, at the main road.

The location is abit off from the main tourist spot, however it's convenient if you're heading to the bus terminal. Nearest subway took about 8-10mins walk.

Overall, the service of the staff & the amenities is what stood out from the rest. Huge difference from some of the international hotels.
