Owner description: This is the nexus of Seoul’s youth and indie culture. Funky boutiques, avant-garde galleries, and great nightclubs are this neighborhood’s mainstay. Come here for a fascinating look at the other side of traditionally conservative Korean culture.

We went on a Friday evening, and the place got more crowded after 8pm. Did not manage to watch any students singing on the streets as youngsters surrounded them. A very lively place, I guess more suitable for people in the teens and 20s. Many shops selling clothes for young people. Many artistic hair accessories - worth a visit if you like. Prices may not be cheap - from KRW 5000 to 18000, but the designs look unique.

Shopping area, the street food there is not bad. The socks are cheaper compare to Myeongdong. Lost of bars, and more shops selling men's stuffs

Our guesthouse at gate 3 of Hongdae station is around 10-15 minutes away from this place . Exit at gate 9 and turn right , you will find a street selling mostly female clothes, socks and accessories.

We went there almost everyday during our stay. There are plenty of restaurants with various cuisine. But bear in mind that the restaurants and shops open quite late in the morning, around 11am?

Strongly recommend young travelers to stay around this area. My cousin and I was supposed to stay at Myeong dong but my colleague suggested this place and we love it so much!

Do visit this place at night, if you're luckily you might bump into Tv stars like we did ! They're friendly enough to take photos with you too! As for girls, street performance might caught your interest.

One of the night area in Seoul. There are lots of young 'early 20s uni' people around this area even late at night.

Best way to get to Hongik university is by Metro (get off Hongik uni station, line 2 on the green line)

Artsy kind of place with clubs and food. Younger people here and local tourists. Not too many spectacular places to eat, but this is the easiest place to pick up girls.
