Owner description: This is the nexus of Seoul’s youth and indie culture. Funky boutiques, avant-garde galleries, and great nightclubs are this neighborhood’s mainstay. Come here for a fascinating look at the other side of traditionally conservative Korean culture.

This fried chicken shop at hongik is really really nice. We even went there twice when we were staying there. Both the onion fried chicken and barbecue chicken are nice, go well with the beer.

Hongdae area is nice! Busy and lively with students and young people. Street performances, great cheap restaurants every where. Nice bars, trendy shops, cheap clothes and nice buildings.
Friday night is crazy busy but fun. In my opinion the nicest area in Seoul. Try the bbq-restaurants.

Very vibrant place with surprises at most corners, away from Main Street. Chanced upon the hello kitty cafe and had a coffee break there. Not that I fancy the cat but rather its for my boasting to the fanatics that i had been there.Lots of shops selling handphone covers, ear plugs and accessories.

Nice shoe shops as well but the largest size they carry is 250. I am a size 9 and judging by how tight the shoes felt, 250 should be a 8 only.

Roadside stalls are put up in the late afternoon. This is also the area where all the hop hop clubs are located: Nb1 and nb2, cocoon etc.

We went on a Sunday to look for the Sunday flea market near the university. Couldn't find our way and didn't make it on time. Randomly went to a 2nd floor restaurant call Crazydduk World along the streets nearer to the subway, its really a cheap bargain. We ordered the black sauce, small one, for 3 person sharing. Its filling and nice too! Whole jar of pineapple/plum yogurt at krw 2000.
There's nice shopping around there! The whole building of Hello Kitty cafe and the transparent karaoke house were wonders for us!
Randomly went to a nice cafe call Cafe J*K at 2nd level (coz we got lost). Its pretty from the door front to the cafe! Ask for tourist menu in Eng. The Honey toast is super nice! Nice latte too!!!
