We are writing this on our last day of a one-week stay. Overall we are very happy with our choice of the Tea Tree hotel.

To our pleasant surprise, this is located in a great neighbourhood - very fashionable and trendy, with a lot of action at night time to enjoy. Every day we had a nice complimentary breakfast at the Cafe Nescafe which is adjoined downstairs - coffee, juice, croissant, eggs & bacon. A great way to start the day. The windows are open and from the cafe we would invariably see a magazine fashion shoot, with models and photographers and lighting people milling about. Sort of testament to the fact this is a very desirable location.

About the location, we only used a taxi once late at night, and the rest of the time we took the metro - very cheap and affordable and convenient. Get a transit card, and this works on buses and the subway. The Sinsa station is about 600m walk from the hotel, we used that one more than the Apgujeong station which seems farther away (but closer to the luxe Hyundai department store, if you need to stock up on Prada and Gucci purses).

Furthermore, you can take an airport shuttle bus which also drops you off at the Sinsa subway stop - very affordable if you don't have much heavy luggage to cart around.

The hotel itself is quite small and cosy - not a full service hotel with amenities if that's what you need. No bar or restaurant, no exercise gym or pool, etc. The room is on the smaller size but very clean. The bed is quite firm, we aren't even sure if there is a boxspring... but surprisingly comfortable especially if you're dead tired and jetlagged. Free internet - you must bring a ethernet cable or borrow from the front desk. There is wifi only in the lobby and the cafe. The TV has a few HD channels in English, but it is interesting to try to watch the Korean television dramas and game shows, when you can't sleep at 3am. (Try to find the one called "My Man Can" a gameshow where the girlfriend wagers depending on her bf's ability to do various tasks such as eating spicy ginger or using ridiculously long chopsticks to pick up heavy objects)

But onward with the review - the nightlife is good around the hotel. There are literally dozens of cafes where young and affluent hang out with fancy cars like Lamborghinis outside. Lots of boutiques for shopping, both men and women's fashion. Also a number of smaller restos to try. We liked in particular the casual outdoor BBQ places for pork and beef. Nothing fancy but the food is delicious and very cheap.

Finally the price of the room was very affordable compared to other choices. Would definitely stay here again.

Room tip: Since this hotel is right on the main strip, you may want to ask for a room facing the street if you want to see the action, or perhaps on the other side if you value peace and quiet from the noise

I went to Seoul for a week and for the last 3 nights I stayed at Tea Tree hotel. The hotel location is so great in the middle of boutique shops and coffee shops where all of young generations gather after works. Highly recommended for those who prefers window shopping or just want to sip a coffee and relax...
