Whenever I think of going back to Seoul I tell myself, I have to go back to Insadong so I can shop at Ssamzie-gil. It's a building full of stores selling (what to me seemed like) Korean stuff -- bags, toys, music boxes, stationery and clothing items. I get why the guidebooks mention it -- you can find a lot of cute things here; I have never seen so many cute things in one place. The place itself has character, too -- an atrium, with ramps for going up or down. There are stairs, too, if you realize you should have bought that thing you saw downstairs.
Look for Moony Orgel for ceramic music boxes -- you pick the song, the shape and print of the box, and the key to wind it. Drama themes, Korean, Chinese and English songs -- they have a lot. Such a precious souvenir!
People who hate crowds, or are looking to buy stuff at low cost might not like it here.
Don't leave Insadong without dropping by.
