“Value for money, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

No complaints with this budget hotel - value for money. has computer & internet access, nice coffee machine at the reception area. Very good location, 5-10 mins walk from subway, Airport bus not far. Room is very small but clean and comfortable. Owners/staff are very strict and serious, it would be nice if they can smile more and provides customers a bit of flexibility. Happy to stay at this hotel again.
Direction to the hotel from subway Jongno5-ga: exit 14, turn left pass few pharmacies to Family Mart, turn right to street Jongro-5-ga-31-gil, walk straight to 7-11 store then turn left to a hotel, turn into alley just after that hotel (you can find the hotel sign at the pole),

They threw away (or took, whichever) my stuff (a gift for a friend in Shilla Duty Free bag) during room cleaning. When I realized my bag was gone, I had to talk to the owner through an interpreter for almost an hour in the middle of night. The owner acted irritated and flat out disregard the idea saying “our stuff is highly trained, and it’s impossible that they throw away guests’ belongings. It must be your mistake.” Even the interpreter thought it was a waste of time to keep talking to the owner, so I very politely asked if they would check the garbage bag for me JUST IN CASE it was mistakenly thrown away, and his reply was “no, all garbage bags had already been taken out.”

But next day, his wife called me and told me they found my stuff! She apologized but what was weird was that the Shilla bag and a gift wrapping were all gone, and only the box inside came back. If they mistakenly threw away the bag, whey would the gift wrapping be removed?

The owner also apologized when I run into him later on, but considering all the emotional stress, time loss and extra 14,000 won I had to pay to have it re-wrapped at Lotte Department Store, I did not find a casual apology not quite good enough.

Can't fault it for it's price. Considering it's location, it's value for money. It's convenient to travel to most attractions in Seoul, and especially Dongdaemun if you need to cab back at night after shopping (that place comes alive at 9pm-5am) which would not be too expensive.

Basic amenities were provided, and we didn't face any serious issues, except that the staff refused early check-in. Overall a pleasant stay.

We booked this motel after reading nice reviews and looking at the pictures on different websites.

When we got there for check in the staff were unfriendly and couldn't care less that we there. We then got a short tour of how the utilities worked by a tired older man, whom later would revert to only watch TV-soaps instead of atleast pretending to answer our question on where the nearest subway station could be found.

The room itself, a twin-double, could have been a nice big room, but the first thing we noticed were it wasn't all that well cleaned as we found lumps of dust and then when looking at the walls closest to the door we also saw the wallpapers were bucking and starting to let go of the wall. This probably due to waterdamage from what we could deduct judging the miscolouring on the wallpaper all around the doorway too.

After further inspecting the room we found that the wallpaper and walls in the room were also bucking and we even found a hole drilled in the short end above one bed. This hole was in no way mended, they had just left it as it was.

Looking at the plastic linoleum flooring we saw how bubbly and wobbly it looked and it made squeaking noices when walking across it. All in all the floor job is a sign of really poor craftmanship with gaps here and there.

Further on, the bathroom, we found a hole in the ceiling, the size of an american quarter. Beneath the Hole we saw stripes after some brownish liquid that had run down the wall. By the sink and shower we found blackmold and several signs of insufficient cleaning.

We then tried to contact the front desk to solve our concerns and the only thing they said was. "You booked this period... you have room, you pay room"
So contacting the onlinebooking agency was the only option they told us. The angency was really helpful and offered to try and solve this for us, they also recommended taking picture,
We did and then, as we left the motel we contacted them and told them we had checked out.

The front desk were absolutely no help, when we asked if we could check out, They only exclaimed in a very rude tone "Contact your booking agency" repeatedly over and over, even when we found a person that translated what we asked.

This said, there's many nice hostels, motels and hotels in Seoul,
This (Amiga Inn, Seoul) however is NOT one of them, I would defenetly not recommend this to anyone, Their low price is just an indicator to how poorly run they are! And how badly they will treat their customers and guests.

Please choose somewhere else if you want a nice decent priced place to sleep during your stay in Seoul.

We stayed at Amiga Motel for 9 nights. The price for 9 nights was really cheap, so we didn't expect much when we arrived. In the end we were quite happy with the place: the room was spacious enough, and most importantly it was clean. The building is quite old though. There was a large tv in the room (with more than 50 channels). The bathroom had a glass door, which was a bit odd. And you're not allowed to throw toilet paper in the toilet.

The staff wasn't especially friendly or helpful, and their English was quite limited. Then again, we didn't have any problems or anything, so the only times we spoke to the staff was when we were leaving our room key or picking it up.

The hotel wasn't that easy to find, we had to go to another hotel to ask for directions. The nearest subway station is Jongno 5 (o) - ga. Take exit 1, and walk straight until you see a Family Mart. Turn right, to a small street between said Family Mart and a pharmacy. Then continue walking straight, soon you will see a 7/11 on your left. (This is where we started wondering if this really is the right direction. It is, even though it is a really small street.) Continue walking straight, soon you'll see a hotel on your right, the name was Lee's Hotel if my memory serves me right. After the hotel, turn right to an even smaller street. There you will see Amiga Motel on your right. I hope this helps you to find the place.

All in all, we were quite satisfied. It obviously wasn't a luxury hotel, but we also didn't have anything to complain about.

I felt this place was great for the price. It was hard to locate for many taxi drivers, though because there is also a very distant "Amiga Hotel" out there. I can only speak Japanese and English, so it was a bit hard to communicate, and the main man at the front was a little scary. The bathroom was a bit strange (shower right by the toilet). But overall it was a comfortable hotel and medium-clean. The location was good. And when we accidentally left something at the hotel, they held onto us until we were able to come back to fetch it.
