“Nice hotel, very small rooms”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

The hotel is nice and clean, but room are very small, specially they say it is a double room but the rooms are too small for two people...

Besides the size of the rooms the rest of the things are ok, they have a huge tv and a PC and a very cool surround system.

The location is ok... 10 min walk to the MRT or also around 20 min by taxi to city area.

We were put up here by our Korean Hosts (a Charity Organisation, with a budget limit). The Hotel seems to currently be under renovation. I am unsure if at first we had an old room 506, or a very poorly renovated room. It seemed like new paint, but the colour was a bright deep purple and a bright deep blue, with yellow chairs at a very small table for 2. The colours made the room seem smaller than it was, and it was tiny, anyway. The room was about 3 x 4m, and the double bed had to be against one wall as the room was so small. The table and chairs were stationed underneath the 60" plasma TV. The bathroom was extremely small, and had no benches to put any of your toiletry needs. This room I would rate at 1.5/5
All the Reception (open 24hrs) staff speak English. We asked to be moved to another room, a bigger room with no bright purple walls. We were moved to 801, and this floor seemed to be fully renovated. The room floors are polished concrete giving it an industrial look that blends well with the brown and tan colourings. The room is about 40m sq, and the bathroom is a good size with a spa bath and the best shower I have experienced in any hotel. The large showerhead 'streams' out loads of water. Again, a 60" plasma. The only English channels are an Action Movies one and one that shows either children's movies or CSI type serials. If you only speak English, I suggest you bring either computer TV connections, or a USB stick with movies on it, and this can be fed into the computer in the room, with that computer screen projected through the big plasma. They do have movies on the room computers but these were not connected, to date. INcidently, the air conditioners here are a bit noisy and about every 6 hours a noise machine cuts in a refills the airdonditioner with what seems water. The first night I woke in a fright. This room I would rate at 4/5
If you want western breakfast, they have toast, butter, jam, cereal, oranges, and scrambled eggs with ketchup. Drip coffee and/or tea.
GETTING AROUND: if you turn right, out of the hotel, walk for 340m and you will enter exit 4 of Dipsimi subway. From here you can travel just about anywhere in Seoul. The closest tourist attraction from here is the Dongdaemun Markets, 4.5km away and 5 stops on the same subway line.
FOOD: If you turn right out of the subway, and walk to the next main intersection turn right and walk about 100m and you will come to the 'voted the best' Samkyetang (Chicken & Ginseng Soup) restaurant in Seoul. It is on your right. YOu will know it by the 4 big glass panels and the double door entrance, and picture of chickens on the windows, and a sign on the door that tells you it was voted the best. Ask for the Samkeytang and they will bring you also all the trimmings including Sujo (Korean vodka) in a white vase. Also over the road from the intersections is Coffeenie and just past that is Paris Baguette. At Paris Baguette you can get sandwiches, pizza subs, donuts, coffee. Great for cheap eats.
I would stay here again, as long as i had a DELUXE room.

Room Tip: ask for a DELUXE fully renovated room.

Came here for a self getaway holiday, and receptionist was more than helpful to guide us on where we needed to go. Room came with complimentary wifi, cold tin coffee and a packet of grape juice. These were replenished daily. Breakfast was the same for the two weeks me and my wife was there. Scrambled eggs, porridge, salads, sausages, kimchi, toasts, cereals, milk and orange.

My only complaint is that the aircon decided to fail on us on the second last night of our stay. All in all, it was a good stay.

Hi, I am from Iran. Although it is not located in the central and historical part of the city, but it is near the subway station.
The stuff were very kind and unlike the other hotels, the rooms were big enough to be very comfortable and also our room included KARAOKE! :D

Obviously a motel with a small room, huge lcd tv and bidet. When we first checked in, the room smelled heavily of cigarrette smoke. The space was so tiny, it was just nice for our luggage and our walking space. However, Mare showed some class. Subway is just 10mins walking distance from motel. Will probably come back. Not for families or huge groups of travellers.

Medium size concrer hotel and does not look most appealling from the outside. However, it is far better inside and great value. Clean. Staff very helpful. Room huge - 2 beds, 2 desk top computers (free), 50 inch tv, double jacuzzi bath, shower and kareoke room (!) all in the hotel room. Free self service hot breakfast (not extensive menu but sufficient). Hotel is about 300 yards from Dongmyo subway station (exit 4 I think, but check). Short subway ride to all sites. Beds, like most Asian beds, are a little firm.

When we got to this hotel i was more than a little dubious as it was under going renavations and looked poor from the outside. These worries then proved to be totally unfounded. The room was lovely with a big 50" t.v with free movies, Whirlpool bath, free pc and internet, power shower, underfloor heating (a little too warm sometimes, but great as it was about -4 outside), bidet, heated toilet seat, and 2 double beds. The staff when we first arrived did not have great english but after that the two guys who worked on recepion were fluent and were able to fix the sound on the tv for us. These guys were really helpful and saved us some money by telling us where to meet the airport shuttle bus, we thought we would have to get a taxi as we were leaving at 5am. While this hotel is not in a central location it is only a 5-10 min walk from the MRT and there is a bar/market street right on the door step. Overall I was impressed with the value for money and would stay here again.
