What can I possibly add.
We were staying at the Ritz Carlton in Gangnam and found out we needed to stay in Seoul for another week. The prospect of staying in a small hotel room did not appeal to my wife and I.
We found this place on TripAdvisor and booked a room. It worked for us because it's right along the subway and a straight 15-minute commute back to Gangnam from where the hotel is.
These are service apartments that were designed for retirees. However the project went another way and they now rent out units in one tower. Do not expect the same level of concierge and front desk amenities that you get at a hotel.
However if you're a capable independent traveler, want an apartment instead of a hotel, then you will like this place.
There is a grocery store and mall in the basement. Basically everything you could possibly need. Starbucks, restaurants and a big e-mart with lots of food.
Subway/Metro station is across the street.
Big and spacious and modern. These would easily be million dollar plus apartments if they were located in Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai or Sydney. Floor to ceiling windows, big TV, nice bathrooms and a decent kitchen.
The kitchen has what you need to cobble together a salad or cook some dumplings. Don't expect much in the way of tools or cutlery, but if you're clever you'll do just fine feeding yourself using the grocery store downstairs. And if this will be home for a week or more consider bringing some kitchen things... like your favorite knife, salt, spices, cutting board. I keep a service apartment kit for when I stay in places like this because the knives are always dull and it sucks buying little things like salt or ziplock bags every-time.
Basic. They will come in and sweep, empty trash and make the bed. Don't expect to be a total slob and have them clean it all each day. Not that kind of place.
Why's is so cheap?:
It's not a full hotel and it's not in a popular neighborhood. This isn't to say there is anything wrong with the area, it's just that most visitors need to be right in the CBD near city hall or Itaewon or in Gangnam (like us). So if you can spare 15-minutes in the morning to subway it in either direction and want space, then this place is amazing.
