“Nice bed, nice location, nice price”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

I always used the Rainbow on my travels to Seoul. Like the location, close to the subway and there is a great little chicken restaurant around the corner. Nothing fancy, but it is a cheaper option than some of the other hotels around and always offered enough for a comfortable stay. The breakfast is not great, but if you are looking for a nice bed in a nice location at a nice price, then the Rainbow should be your first call.

Room Tip: It is not a good idea to ask them to put a third bed into a room - there is not space for a mouse th...

I decided to stay in this hotel because it was close to an event I was going to for the weekend. I must say I was a little suprised when I walked in the room and saw how small it was. I think this just comes from being from America. I am not used to tiny rooms with rock hard beds. The room was clean, but everything seemed really old. I guess thats what you get for 55,000 won. Like I said the bed was very very hard. The TV in my room did not work at all. It was ok though because I didn't spend much time in the room. The bathroom was interesting. The water from the shower actually flowed into the floor drain. The bathroom was also very small. The staff at the hotel was nice enough and they did at least have an iron for me to use. Their English was also very good. All in all I would say that this hotel is only for people that want a cheap room for one night. I would have not stayed longer than that.

This hotel is right next to a subway station, one stop away from Seoul Station which has the airport train. Also there is an airport bus stop around the corner. There are many cafes and restaurants in the area.
The rooms are well equipped, "Korean style" hotel rooms, which means everything is provided: from an in-room computer (with internet), huge flat screen TV, to toothpaste to hairgel to a hairdryer. There is aircon. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was fine, I would choose the Korean food over the Western fried eggs and white toast.
The only problem was that the room smelt strongly of tobacco.

We stayed for 2 nights in a double room, reserved through their website for 55,000W per night. The room was small but comfortable and clean, with all the amenities we needed (mini fridge, big LCD TV, toiletries etc.) The bathroom was small and a little dated but clean enough. The bath could only be filled up with the shower head which wasn't practical. That said, my sister and her husband had taps on their bath so I think it depends on the room!

The internet wasn't working on the computers in either room for the 2 days we were there & the reception staff offered no apologies for this, simply saying it sometimes went off which was a little annoying but we made use of a nearby PC bang instead. There was some noise outside the hotel around 2am one night (just some drunken antics I think) but other than that we slept well.

The best thing about the hotel is the location - 2 mins walk to the nearest subway station (with 2 other stations also within walking distance) makes it a perfect base for exploring the sights of Seoul. Also very close to the USO which was handy for our early morning DMZ tour. It would be very difficult to find a better hotel at such a good location for this price at the weekend, therefore I reccommend it to anyone on a budget wanting to explore the various sights of Seoul.

This hotel was relatively close to the metro and easy to find. The bed was very hard, and the heating on the floor was too hot. Often I had to sit on the bed because walking around or standing hurt. There was a functional computer in the room so that's a plus but it's really old and there were wires hanging around - looked unkempt, possibly dangerous.

The best part was there were 3 types of Dove liquid soap available. I would have been pleased with just one.

We were recommended to this hotel by our 'trusty' Lonely Planet. If only they had indicated that the characteristics of this hotel reminds one of a love motel.

We paid a walk-in rate of 55,000 won per night for a double room.

Went there in year 2008. Last min booking at Rainbow Hotel. Twin Room consist of 1 queen size n 1 single bed. Price only 63000 won. Tho the room is small but can accommodate 2 adults n 2 kids. Toilet is Super Clean. Near to subway. Only 2 mins walk. 7-11 is a walking distance. Staff can speak simple English and their service is good.

Will be coming to Seoul again this Dec 2010 and definitely staying at Rainbow Hotel again but this time I m trying ONDOL Room wit only 67000 won!!!!!

This is a decent hotel, tucked away in an alley off the main drag. Three of us stayed 2 night, crowded room. No WiFi, nearly unheard of in Seoul.
The bathroom had been cleaned but there was hair in the bathtub. They leave toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush for you to use, but they have been well used already. Seems to be a common thing to do in Korea.
After the 2nd night, due to a schedule change, we had to move from the Rainbow to the Kaya hotel just around the corner. For a little bit more, the Kaya was a big upgrade. The room was much larger, the bathroom much larger, cleaner all the way around. And two computer terminals in the lobby for your use. The Rainbow is rather bare-bones. There was a restaurant attached to the Rainbow but we never ate there.
