An enormous statue of "The Mother of All Georgians" high on the hill overlooking the City. Quite remarkable and well worth a visit

If you're on the mountain by the fortress, go ahead and stop by. The views are great. But not much else but this bizarre statue.

Mother of Georgia dominates the hill and is perfectly visible from town. However, once you are on the hill top, you may end up admiring the statue back and having limited space to take a photo from the front.

Our guide explained to us that in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.

The same kind of statue is present in many Countries of the area.

Мать - Грузия!
Amazing view from the top, where the monument is established. Nature, mountains, city and absolute happiness. As well, looking at Mother of a Georgian, you are full of energy and strength.
The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-metre aluminium figure of a woman in Georgian national dress. She symbolizes the Georgian national character: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.
