“nice stay!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Although small in size, the hotel offers a very good option for travellers looking for a short stay. The customer service is good and the staff offer great flexibility around breakfast times etc. The hotel is a short walk away from the Rustaveli avenue and one can walk back to the hotel after an enjoyble meal in the heart of the city.

The staff seem eager to offer advise on making the stay in Tbilisi worthwhile. The rooms could have been bigger in size but the hotel makes up what it lacks in area with excellent customer service.

The taxi driver was sceptical that there was a hotel in this street but when the door opened and he saw the lobby full of plants and flowers even he was visibly surprised and impressed.
The room was spacious and well resourced, the service very friendly and because I had to get up very early to catch a flight the overnight receptionist made me some breakfast and the taxi arrived on time to get me to the airport. All round very impressive.

I stayed here with my wife and kid for four nights at the end of August, 2012. What I liked the most is the personal care bestowed by the staff on you. All the three staff who took turns to manage the front office were very nice and more than eager to help. On the whole, they spoke reasonably good English, so that we didn't have problem communicating, unlike in the city where many people don't know English. The rooms (though you may have to go up a steep flight of steps to reach them, as there is no lift) were comfortable. The breakfast offered a good spread including Georgian and Western choices. You can savour the kachapuri (Georgian bread with cheese filling). We being vegetarians, the staff made sure that there was a range to choose from.
The best thing is that the hotel can arrange a guide for you. We got Levani, a nice guy who took us around town and to the nearer cave city. He was very patient, and is a good listener. Levan answers all your questions about the tourist spots and does a sincere job detailing all the aspects of a place. We were very thankful to him for having taken us to a restaurant on our way back from sight seeing, where we tasted some great Georgian cuisine. I would recommend this hotel. Though the hotel is up a steep slope that looks lonely at times, the place we found out is very safe as is the rest of the country. mukesh sharma

Room Tip: The room on the right side of the staircase, probably on the first level is good.

Stayed here for two nights. Staff were excellent and friendly, the room was a good size and the breakfast was vast!

The hotel also arranged a tour guide for me and responded quickly to my emails prior to arrival.

Will defiantly stay here again.

As I've now been here 5 days and have seen many of the other rooms I've decided to add an additional review.
They have 8 rooms with individual character, some with living quarters, dinning rooms, old ceramic bath tubs and showers. Some of the rooms have a real feel of Victorian England. I can't say enough about the staff at British House; they go the extra mile to make sure your comfortable, informed on local places, directions and things to do. There's very much a peace and tranquility factor to staying at British House and I've asked myself would I stay here again, or look for alternative accommodation and the answer is YES; I would stay here again most definitely!

A little out of the way, but very clean and friendly. Don't expect the Ritz. Hotel is located up a large hill with rickety buildings and streets nearby. Not very comforting for single female guests as it's dark and dingy nearby. Very much a time warp circa 1970. Breakfast is real basic and shower in room is again terribly basic.

Mid-range, small hotel. Feels a little like a bed and breakfast. Staff were very service orientated but English was not always excellent- at times it was difficult to communicate. Room was very beautiful with a lot of attention to detail, many ornaments and shandeliers. Room was very large and had 6 windows and a small balcony. The view is pleasant and is of the street corner. The building is very old so the style reflects this. In an effort to retain this style, the bathroom is quite old too and so not the best if you want a good comfortable shower. Breakfast was in a very English style, with fine china and tea but Georgian food. The variety was fine but there was a lack of condiments- some jam or honey would be nice with the bread and some sour cream or preserves would go well will the crepes. Close to Rustaveli metro, cafes etc. Staff made a special effort to fast track the laundry service as I was only there one night and leaving early in the morning.

Room Tip: This hotel is probably better value for 2 people as the rooms are very big with several rooms.
